...This is a good quality CD that offers good value for money in the short term. Although as with most music you might get fed up with it after a while. The value will deteriorate over time and should be anle to get a cheaper version next year. It incorporates most of the latest features and technology that is currently available on the market.
All Mod Cons was to be followed by the albums Setting Sons (1978), Sound Affects (1979) and The Gift (1982).

...if you could only own one jam album this would have to be it, its packed full of great tracks, many of which arent hits you would recognise as singles, some of which include Private Hell, Little Boy Soldiers, Saturdays Kids and of course The Eton Rifles.
BruceFoxtons reworked Smithers-Jones sounds fantastic with its orchestral backing.
The album was originally due to be a concept album about 3 friends growing up but only a handful of tracks turned out this way due to album release dates.
After 3-4 listens of the album you will realise just how strong and poignent this record is and after even more listens you notice how clever and meaningful Weller's lyrics are.
At times the record can be downbeat, gritty and political but in other tracks Weller shows his optimism and hope.

...The Jam were always Paul Weller’s vehicle and bassist BruceFoxton and drummer Rick Buckler were always seen as dependable sidemen, rather than stars in their own right.
Their first single, In The City, was released in April 1977 by Polydor and reached number 40 after an appearance on Top of the Pops; an album of the same name, which was quickly knocked together and released in May, made it to number 20.
The opening chords of the first track, Art School, echoed Out In The Street, the first track on the Who’s debut album My Generation (1965), indicating a major influence on Weller’s songwriting and guitar playing; he even chose to play the semi acoustic Rickenbacker guitars made popular by Pete Townshend in the Sixties. Weller’s early work, and some of the later material, was crammed with the jangling harmonies and brash lyrics...
