Tourist by Athlete is an amazing akbum filled with sad and emotional songs. The songs are slow and filled with emotion which makes it much more appealing. If sad songs arent your thing then this album is probably not going to interest you very much but I still think you should listen to it anyway to hear the amazing lyrics.
Track list:
Chances - 4.50 This song, like the rest of the album, is slow and meaningful. The lyrics ahve been carefully chosen to portray just what the band want them to. This song can be interpreted in many different ways and the true meaning isnt exactly clear but I think this makes it more interesting to the listeners.
Half Light - 3.41 Although this song sounds much happier than the previous one did, the lyrics are stil equally strong and emotive. The song is about how times without loved ones can be extremely difficult.
Tourist - 3.57 The album was named after this song. The tempo comes back down again with this song. The lyrics are sung more slowly again. There is more music without singing in this song than the previous ones. A story unravels throughout this song as well.
Trading Air - 4.27 The introduction is slow and sounds like something sad is happening. The lyrics are sung much more slowly and the sentences are more broken up.
Wires - 4.20 Another song with a slow and sad beginning, continuing throughout the song. A story once again unravels from start to finish, almost like a flashback which is being sung to us so that we can imagine it. I think this is a very well written song and contains some very emotive lyrics.
If I Found Out - 5.02 This song is slower and quieter than the previous ones to begin with, then it picks up more energy. It sounds as though things are improving for him during the song, although they do have ups and downs.
Yesterday Threw Everything At Me - 3.45 There is a much shorter introduction to this song, getting straight into the singing. The lyrics are sad again but extremely well put together.
Street Map - 4.38 This song has a slow introduction and the lyrics begin more slowly as well. It makes the song sound extremely sad and reflect the general topic of the album. This is also a very good song.
Modern Mafia - 2.45 This song sounds less sad than the others on the album and has a slightly less sad subject matter as well. The general feel of the song is happier than before and is more likely to appeal to a wider audience.
Twenty Four Hours - 5.01 This is quite a long song with many sad lyrics in it. There are several interpretations for this song as well. The lyrics allow us to imagine things happening in front of us and the inability to do anything about them. The sadness of this song comes through strongly and the slow drum beat in the background which occassionally stills to silence gives the impression of a heart monitor of some sort, linking to the title, "Twenty Four Hours".
I Love - 3.49 The music is much quieter in this song and the voice sounds much louder. There is a slightly happier tone to the song, although the speed still suggests that it is sad.
