This is a classic. I've had this album for a few years now but still listen and love it. There are few albums which can start with the timeless "Talkin'Bout a revolution" and then follow it with the even better "Fast Car". Another highpoint is "Baby can I hold you" which is an absolute classic despite being butchered by Boyzone.
I'm not sure what musical genre you would class it in, probably the simplest would be folk, however, this seems an injustice to the music, i prefer to classify it as an album of rock ballads.
Tracy Chapmans haunting voice, when combined with the minimalistic nature of the music and the meaningful lyrics makes this one of the best albums ever. Unfortunately however, Tracy Chapmans other albums have failed to live up to the standard set by this album, however, it would be hard for anyone to beat this.
