National Treasure - a great effort from Rabin
Review of National Treasure - Various Artists by  mikeywhitto

Advantages: Great original soundtrack
Disadvantages: Can become boring if listened to too much

... Overview If you enjoyed the film, then the music probably had a part to play in your opinion. The first time I listened to this soundtrack I was really impressed - it seriously is good. After a while however, the tracks can become a bit monotonous as they do repeat themselves. It is easy to picture the film when listening to the music. The best tracks are probably 'Interrogation' and 'Treasure'. I think that if you can find this CD for under ten pounds then it is certainly worth a purchase. Make sure you don't 'over-listen' to it. Some OSTs can be repeated over and over again without getting boring. I usually come back to this soundtrack every couple of weeks or so and I still love to listen to it. It can't compete to a lot of work by John Williams or Hans Zimmer, although I think Trevor Rabin had done a good job... Read review

Q-Tip's Gettin' Up: The Renaissnace
Review of Renaissance, The - Q-Tip by  XICripZ

Advantages: Consistent quality
Disadvantages: Little variation

..."The Renaissance" is the 2008 released from Q-Tip. This album is his third since staring his career as part of the Jazz Hip Hop crew, A Tribe Called Quest, who have influenced acts such as Lupe Fiasco today. 1. "Johnny Is Dead" For an introductory piece, this is a strong start as it gets you straight into some typical Q-Tip, smooth, jazzy Hip Hop. It is all good stuff and gets you into the right mood for what will follow on from it as his third release without Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White. **Four Stars** 2. "Won't Trade" The high standard of the early stages of the album isn't dropped on this one as you get another strong piece with Q going on some nice beats whcih have a soft sound, but with a stern beat to keep it in line with expectatctions of an East Coast Hip hop cut. **Four Stars** 3... This is just adios and not goobye........
Review of Spanish Eyes - Al Martino by  pinkmatchstick

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...break, as he stepped in to take his place at the microphone. As well as being No 1 here, the single sold over one million copies in the USA. "Here In My Heart" was one of a string of hits for Al between 1952-1955, as his rich baritone timbre put the finished touches to stylishly written and orchestrated songs like "Now" and "Wanted". Coming high on the list of You Couldn't Make It Up, his 1955 hit "The Man From Laramie" was kept off the top of the charts by Jimmy Young's version of the same song. (I'm old enough to remember Jimmy Young as a Radio Two DJ!!) The UK hits dried up but he remained a popular live act and enjoyed something of a renaissance in the early 1970's, appearing as Johnny Fontaine in "The Godfather" (it's him singing at the wedding in the film's opening scenes), and having another big UK hit with Bert...
