Advantages: Great tribute to a great composer. Disadvantages: Not suitable to anyone who isn't familiar with Morricone's music.
...I think the title of this album should be considered a solid fact. We do all love Ennio Morricone! He's easily one of the best composers of recent times, and hundreds of films would be lost without his music.
Despite not giving a full picture of Morricone's work, i think this is still a great tribute album. The fact that artists from Celine Dion, to Bruce Springsteen, to Metallica, ahve come forward to pay their tributes shows the extent to which Morricone has touched the world.
I found out about this tribute from the Metallica website when they announced they'd recorded their own version of "Ecstasy Of Gold", and I immediately bought it. Ecstasy of Gold, and Bruce Springsteen's "Once Upon A Time In The West" are my favourite tracks on the album, but they all have their strengths. At that, I wouldn't say that any of the artists...

Advantages: Great lyrics, melody, instrument-playing, DJing Disadvantages: Bradley isn't alive to make any more great music
...The first I heard of Sublime was their 1996 self-titled album; I bought it after it was recommended by some friends. Since then, I have become a massive fan, adding all their albusm to my CD collection. If I was asked which Sublime album was the best, I would find it hard to choose. They are all so consistent and Bradley Nowell was a very gifted songwriter and lyricist, adding raw melody and dry wit to his vast collection of songs. However, if I had to make a choice, I would go with Sublime's debut album: 40 Oz To Freedom.
Sublime played a vast range of styles, from reggae to hardcore and 40 Oz is no exception. Every track is full of melody, great lyrics, and very talented musicianship. Eric's fantastic bass-playing, Bud's various rhythms, Marshall Goodman's slick turntablism, and Brad's powerful vocals all combine to form the band...
