Advantages: Very catchy, great to hear from them again Disadvantages: May be too much of the same thing for some people
...I have always loved the musical style of Level42. Although I wasn't born when the band was formed, and I didn't really take an interest in them until nearly twenty years later, I can't help but love the feel-good quality to each track - and of course, Mark King's superb signature slap-bass style.
I don't know how they do it, but I always feel great whenever I listen to them! It's not just me either - Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer once described the feeling you get from listening to them as "the [great] feeling you get listening to Level42 on a summer's day". Anyway, enough about me, let's talk about this album.
Retroglide is the first album release from Level42 in twelve years (apart from greatest hits etc) and was released on 18th September 2006.

Advantages: Superb songs and easy listening. Disadvantages: No longer together
...i s there anybody else on this planet who likes level42, where have they gone? Why did they go? And are they ever going to come back. Questions i need answering! The unmistakeable music and style that made the band one of the most popular groups back in the 80's. Who can forget Mark Kings superb base playing, at one stage he was the best base player in the world, and in my books still is!!! The albums like ' Running in the family', World machine and many many more, are of the most up beat and well produced. Fantastic lyrics entice you to sing along with them or humm along at the very least. If any of you have not got any of their albums, go and get one. No matter wich one you choose, you will be in for a treat of musical madness, once you listen - you are hooked!!...

Advantages: A good collection of the career of Level 42 Disadvantages: A naff new mix of an old classic at the end of the album
...in the pop charts and the disco dance floors. Forever seen as the party band for drunken gatherings, Level42 never failed to put a smile on our faces and springs in our steps. They legacy that they did leave us, unfortunately, was then an endless stream of God awful funky set ups who gave us such incredibly bad records which some how used to find themselves at number 1over night. Because of bands like Level42, we got Steps.
Things were not completely black for us, the listeners. Occasionally, they released something that was so unique, that we couldn't but help ourselves rush out for a copy of Smash Hits just for the song lyrics. So now, I have either wet your appetites, or you have turned off this page totally. Either way, we had better look at this album, so we can get it over and done with….
We have already decided in our minds...
