1983 entitled ?Alf?, her nickname, and secured her numerous musical awards. Raindancing, her second album and the subject of this review, also won a Brit Award.
AlisonMoyet can turn from rock/blues to an almost aggressive punk type feel to her music and is incredibly talented and unique, with a voice that can touch your soul.

WEAK IN THE PRESENCE OF BEAUTY

The album opens up with a strong mid tempo number with the deep, rich tones of Alison?s voice. The music has a strong percussion element with great drums. A song of love and how love makes a person beautiful. Sung with belief and passion. 8/10.

♪♫INTRODUCTION♪♫
I recently wrote a review of AlisonMoyet?s Raindancing. In the conclusion, I said that she had recently released an album called ?Voice? ? in September 2004, and that I planned to buy it soon, so you can imagine my delight when Santa delivered it in my Christmas stocking! For a brief synopsis of AlisonMoyet?s career see my previous review of Raindancing. I don?t want to fill this review with history, but rather concentrate on just how great this album is.
This has got to be one of the most unique recordings released by any artist in a very long time. I knew I would like it, but I didn?t know that I would love it and feel as passionate about this release as I do. It truly is the most spectacular, amazing, stunning, exceptional, magnificent CD to hit the shelves in the last few years ...
Advantages: Brings back memories and parodies Harry Potter in my opinion Disadvantages: A couple of songs could have been replaced
I own lots of CD's - over 200 in fact. As such, I go through phases of what I listen to. At present, I am listening to 'The Essential AlisonMoyet' on a regular basis. I think Alison's 'larger carriage' gives her such a powerful voice and assisted delivering her wonderful performances in West End shows. Her real name is Genevieve - but I think I prefer calling her Alison. I have a sister called Alison, and she dislikes Moyet, as she shares the same name. She also hates the song 'Alison' by Elvis Costello.
I like the 'The Essential...' series of CD's - I have a Simon & Garfunkel and Leonard Cohen edition also. They are very well-priced, it is clear the songs on there are well-known, and I find they stand out in record shops. I don't like the fact that CD's are now kept upstairs in the shops with DVD's downstairs, as I normally get ...

Album Notes
Released in her native U.K. in 2007, Alison Moyet's THE TURN is the earthy R&B singer's first solo album in four years, following 2003's THE VOICE. Belatedly released in the U.S. to coincide with the temporary reunion of her beloved early 1980s synth duo, Yaz (with Vince Clarke of Erasure and Depeche Mode), THE TURN is nonetheless far more in keeping with the jazzy R&B of her more recent solo albums. Written and recorded with Moyet's longtime musical collaborator, Pete Glenister, THE TURN also features three songs written for and performed in a West End stage play, SMALLER, which starred Moyet and legendary British comic Dawn French. Highlights include the first single, "One More Time."
