So, its been 25 years since George Michael first graced the charts with Wham's unique brand of 80's pop. ...have no objection to a 25 year celebration if the pickings weren't so slim. The problem is that it mainly treads waters already crossed by Wham's Greatest Hits released just a few years ago and Goorge's own Ladies & Gentlemen. Both those albums were comprehensive enough, here the only addition to the singles already available are the "Patience" singles and a couple of new tracks. Having seen George Michael (my all time hero) live twice on his recent tour I just had to go and buy this cd. Anyone who has managed 25 years in the music business deserves some credit and respect especaily whilst maintaining integrity and dignity against sometimes impossible odds. Whether you love or hate George you cant deny that he has do it his way whilst standing up against the might of a major record label. The cd is broken into 2 sections, ...
...the more upbeat selection of his songs featuring 3 Wham songs eg wake me up, As, a deut with Mary J Blige and more recently Flawless. The second part of the cd is named "for the loving" . As the name suggests this is for the loving and feature more slower song ranging from careless whisper, Jesus to a child and praying for time. It also has a few duets on there with Paul McCartney, Elton John and Mutya formally of the Sugarbabes. Just one complaint ... Read review

George Michael, absolute legend George Michael, probably best known for being in a group called Wham and they had great hits, three of my favorites are 'freedom', 'club tropicana' and 'Wake me up before you go go'. He then moved on and made a huge success of himself as a solo artist. I have to say that he has many great tunes, the pick of the bunch would have to be 'faith', 'don't let the sun go down on me' (with Elton John) and 'Careless Whisper'. ...
...is 'GENIUS' . This guy has had his fair share of publicity but his music makes up for it, flawless. I recommend these CDS very highly - all his greatest hits on 2 CDs, have to say it doesn't get any better than that!! ...I always felt that George Michael's music has considerably been overlooked, in recent years because of his personal life and in the past probably because he wasn't seen as credible having been one half of the sugarpop Wham! As an introduction to George's music, this compilation is fairly comprehensive, featuring several of Wham's biggest hits (Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Freedom (2 UK No 1's) and both of the double A-side 'Last Christmas' and 'Everything she wants,' right up to songs specifically recorded for the compilation and the title of the compilation certainly matches the track listing. Had this been called 'the ultimate,' a substantial number of criticisms could have been made. I am reviewing the deluxe edition which contains a third disc and I shall indicate which discs are present on both the standard and deluxe editions... Read review
