Album Notes: Although they would later hit it big in the U.S. with hits like \"I'm Not in Love\" and \"The Things We Do For Love,\" 10cc put out a series of catchy, sardonic, and very British singles in their home country in the early '70s. This generous offering includes all the singles off their 1972 debut (including the '50s pastiche \"Donna\" and the mini-opera \"Rubber Bullets\") and its terrific '74 follow-up, SHEET MUSIC.
Advantages: comprehensive Disadvantages: could've been a double cd package instead
...coincidental similarities with the other (and my fave'rite) art-rock band SUPERTRAMP in their songs' sound and lyrics.
This cd contains the whole set of their familliar/not-so familliar tracks (at least to the non-10CC fan listener) - such as: "Rubber Bullets", "The Dean And I", the cheesy track "Donna" (their first single as 10cc), "The Wall Street Shuffle", "Life Is a Minestrone" (w/c's funny w/ its reference to Minnie Mouse and the Pope), "I'm Mandy Fly Me" (that perhaps carry one of the best guitar interludes ever recorded), and one of their greatest songs ever "The Things We Do For Love".
The cd's booklet have a brief narrative on 10cc's history by Chris White, and along are the indications of chart position(s) for each track plus their discography.
So if you are a non-fan of 10CC but would like to have them on your file collection...

Advantages: Good music, different, versatile Disadvantages: 10cc disadvantages? Never!
...and the spectacular light shows once again light up my mind.
This is the first of two albums recorded under the sponsorship of Jonathan King, but don't let that put you off!
The sleeve shows a picture of the four members of the band set in a yellow border with Lol Crème pulling the border into the picture. It was designed by Hipgnosis - whoever that is.
It was originally recorded at the bands own recording studios - Strawberry Studios, but the CD has been produced under licence from Jonathan King by Castle Communications PLC of London.
OK so what's the music like then? I'm glad you asked me that!
THE WALL STREET SHUFFLE
The album opens with a real rocker of a track and one of the two singles taken from this album. The Wall Street Shuffle written by Stewart and Gouldman reached number 10 in 1974. Eric Stewart takes lead vocals on this one and we...

Advantages: Witty lyrics; catchy melodies; great vocals; great value Disadvantages: none at all.
...One of the greatest bands of the 70s. No one hit sounded alike, the lyrics were extremely clever and often tongue-in-cheek and for once, a compilation that delivers its promise. For me this is one of the few faultless compilations around. If you were around in the 70s and like hearing a surprise forgotten gem that never gets played on the radio anymore, this is the album for you.
Most people think of 10CC and recall 'I'm not in love,' 'The Things we do for love,' and 'Dreadlock Holiday,' which were three of their biggest worldwide hits and are definitely classic 70s anthems. Just mentioning those three songs emphasises the sheer quality of the band's output ranging from a reggae inspired number to an absolutely timeless ballad.
Every hit on CD One features sublime and quite often hysterical lyrics, tight arrangement and distinctive...
