US Of Oi - Various Artists

Advantages: Punk, punk and more punk
Disadvantages: No Clash!?!

...I brought this ablum just as I was getting into 70's/80's punk but knew very few of the less mainstream bands (just bands like the clash and the sex pistols), so I bought it. I wasn't disapointed with most of the songs on this compalation but there are a few the weren't my thing. So I got home put it on, the first track was the much over played "Anarchy in the UK", which is the first political punk song but one of the 1st punk bands, so I suppose it had to be on there. The rest of the songs I'd never heard and only reconised some of the bands. There is a real mix of punk from political to punk-pop to Oi! and gives you a real feel for the punk scene at that time. Advantages: All the best R'n'B anthems from '04 & '05
Disadvantages: A little dated now

...This is an excellent round up of all the R'n'B smashes of 2004 and 2005 with a few nostalgic classics thrown in for good measure. It covers the slow jams, the dancefloor joints and everything in between from artists as diverse as Wayne Wonder, Lucy Pearl, Kelis and Usher. CD2 also takes us back with classic gems from the likes of D'Angelo (whose 'Brown Sugar' pretty much defined and kick started the neo soul scene), Janet Jackson (with her undeniable classic 'That's The Way Love Goes') and Blackstreet (with club hit 'No Diggity' featuring Dr Dre) This album is the perfect party album and although it avoids raritites, its sound understanding of R'n'B past and present make it a must have for any music lover.... Advantages: 2 discs of great tunes
Disadvantages: repition of songs.

...This is a great compilation album from the australian based electronic label which has bought us artists such as cut copy. 2 discs give you a mixed and unmixed selection of songs (some repitition on the same discs) the mixed disc is a well composed mix ideal for pre club drinking or in the car. the unmixed disc gives the listener chance to listen to the songs in their entirity. people may recognise some artists such as bloc party as their tracks feature with remixed and edited versions, but more importantly it gives the listener a chance to discover new artists. the album comprises of a mix of indie with a dance feel, and electro based dance-pop. if that sounds like your thing, go for this....
