acting career, sharing a flat with his nephew, Michael and receiving frequent visits from his sister Gina, who bizarrely seems the about the same age as her son. A simple idea, yes, a family based sitcom, not very original but one that leaves enough room to take the show in a variety of directions once they have found their feet. Is it possible to take one character from a show as massive as Friends and have him carry his own series? The character of Joey is unchanged from the Friends character, though it was never a very difficult character to write for, I should imagine, so fans of the previous show will breath a sigh of relief that they haven't tried to elaborate on the role. The problem comes with the fact that Joey was always the fall guy, the butt of all the jokes and without the old gang around him, it seems a bit hard to make the jokes ...

Advantages: Matt Le Blanc Disadvantages: none of the other friends
Like probably millions around the globe, I wasn't sure what to think of a new series, mainly a spin off of the best series ever made (I think). Is it going to get through the critics with not too much damage? According to the NBC website, so far so good and they are making more and more episodes.
The main thing before watching it is not to compare it the fabulous "friends" series.
The 4 main characters are:
- Matt Le Blanc as Joey Tribianni. Seen before obviously in "Friends" but aslo in films like "Lost in space", "Charlie's angels:full throttle".
- Paulo Costanzo as Michael Tribianni (Joey's nephew). Seen in "Road trip" and "40 days and 40 nights".
- Drea de Matteo as Gina Tribianni (Joey's sister). Seen in "the sopranos" but also films like "assault on precinct 13" (remake of John Carpenter's 1976 thriller) and "swordfish ...

Advantages: Get to see Joey Disadvantages: Seeing a great actor like Matt LeBlanc foreced to act in this rubbish series
The Friends spin-off, there was much expected of the Joey series, but this was always doomed. Friends was one of the greatest tv shows and this would mean that it was near impossible to reach the heights of friends. If Joey was a show by itself it could have been seen as a average to a good series but with the friends background it takes a great built up character Joey who had a great cast around him to a cast of mostly unknown actors. You always compare the two shows when watching Joey, which highlights the weaknesses in the show. The shows storyline is ok and the is being nice, the setting makes the show focus to much on Joey which is its greatest and worst aspect of the show. The character Joey needs the cast of frieds to be at his best. ...
