A brilliant debut album

Advantages: Fast, technical, heavy, melodic
Disadvantages: Very few

Despite producing some of the best melodic death metal around, this band have remained consistently under-rated for the best 5 years or so. It is astonishing considering the established and professional sound of this album alone. When this was released back in 2003, the melodic death metal scene was in its prime, with bands like Dark Tranquility and In Flames leading the pack. When I first listened to this album, I imagined I'd hearing Mors Principium Est being mentioned alongside the rest of the MDM greats. It's that good. The first track, "Another Creation", really sets the bar high. The first thing you notice is the clean, crisp sound of the essential Mors Principium Est guitar harmony. There are a lot of these on the album. A few minutes and catchy riffs later, the album's first solo appears. Clean, fast, melodic, brilliant ...

Oran Mór - the great melody of life.

Advantages: Scottish, brilliant building, mural ceiling, it's a bar!
Disadvantages: Not cheap.

Oran Mór ********** Oran Mór is a West end of Glasgow pub situated where Byres road crosses Great Western Road - opposite the botanical gardens. It has been built into what used to be the old Kelvinside Parish Church. Refurbishment of Kelvinside Parish church started in 2002 and Oran Mór opened it's doors on the first day of the West End festival in June 2004. It has since grown to be one of the trendiest venues in Glasgow and attracts a mixed crowd. Oran Mór is Gaelic for "Big song" or "Great melody of Life". Oran Mór is a massive building housing two restaurants, a whisky bar, a lounge bar, a nightclub, a ballroom and a private dining room. It is the only bar in the West end to stay open till two o'clock in the Morning every night of the week. It is owned by a man called Colin Beattie who owns several Glasgow pubs including another ...

Review of Oran Mor

The Unborn (DVD) was Unreal!!

Advantages: Its only 84 minutes
Disadvantages: 84 minutes is still too long!

I was at a loose end last night so I popped to the local Blockbuster and picked up a copy of The Unborn..... The Plot Casey Beldon starts to have horrific nightmares, which contain visions of a strange looking dog (that wears a mask?), and an evil zombie looking little boy. One evening Casey is baby sitting at her neighbours house. She hears Matty (the neighbours little boy) chatting over the baby monitor. When she goes upstairs to check on Matty, and his newborn baby brother, she finds Matty holding a mirror over his little brother's face, getting him to look at the reflection. Weirdly Matty suddenly turns and attacks Casey with the mirror stating "Jumby wants to be born now". The next day, Casey's friend, Romy, tells her of a superstition involving newborns and mirrors: "they shoudn't see their reflections for at least ...
