The Second Album from 19 year old Canadian Avril Lavigne is definitely a great promising one which ensures a successful career for her in the future. I Got this album after hearing Don't Tell Me and not being able to stop singing it , it was such an amazing track and the whole album promises amazing tracks all the way through with every track offering something new to listeners all over.
Avril Lavigne is only 19 years old and on her second album which is proving to be very popular with everyone. She has got a unique, special voice and an interesting point of view which makes her music likeable to everyone. Compared to her first album this album has got a lot more depth and meaning put into her lyrics and she provides lyrics which most people can relate to and concur with compared to say Sk8r Boi which is about a Boy becoming a Rock Star : Great song but not much meaning to it does it ?!

1. Take Me Away This song starts off with light, acoustic sounding guitar for the verse then coming into the chorus turns into a louder power ballad sound with more of high pitched lyrics and heavier guitar to create a more powerful sound to create a more precise meaning in a more powerful way. This song seems to be about a relationship which ended and Avril is confused and hurt by the split up and basically she wants everything to go back to the way it was and get the guy to come back and as the title suggests 'Take her away' This is one of my favourite songs on the
album and a track which prepares the listener for the rest of the album.
2. Together Avril seems to be a fan of build ups into the chorus as she has done it in this song similarly to the previous track. It starts in the first verse with an interesting , soft melody and builds gradually up into the bridge with higher vocals and harder drumming which builds up further into the main chorus to powerful vocals and heavier instruments to create one great track. This track seems to be about when she is together with a certain person ( I'm guessing an Ex Boyfriend) it doesn't feel right and she feels much better when she is alone and her thoughts seem to be focused to much on this person and it hurts her and as the lyrics state "My thoughts are choking on you my dear"
3. Don't Tell Me The First Single Released from this album , Don't Tell Me. I Love how this song starts , with a soft guitar and i think maybe a piano too and it plays out a great original , interesting tune which catches the attention of everyone listening. Eventually into the bridge the guitar gradually picks up and then again into the chorus . The Lyrics in this song are sang with great talent and it seems like the song would not be right without the special voice of Avril in it. This song is about Guys being hard to trust and making everything feel OK and then running away and leaving 5 minutes later and basically what is being said in this song is Don't Tell me what to do or say i don't need you if you are going to be another guy just running away from his problems. !
4. He Wasn't Cool , Catchy and lively guitar brings in the song then drums gradually join in half way through the first verse then into the chorus which is a lively , electric , bounce around the room sort of beat. Then after the chorus we have a few 'hey's thrown in which makes it more powerful and upbeat. Basically about a Guy not being up to Avrils Standards , great tune , great vocals and great beat !
5. How Does It Feel Light strumming on guitar is how you enter into this song with the voice of avril kick-starting it in the very first second of the song. Soft , calm beat in this song , a little slower than the first four tracks . The song as it goes on gets stronger and a bit louder and it is definitely another favourite from the album.
6. My Happy Ending The soon to be Second Release from this astounding album which is , My Happy Ending. Starts off with Drums and Avrils Voice taunting "Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh So Much For My Happy Ending" Which then leads on to a more lively strum of guitar joining in. Song is about a relationship which turns sour and basically saying what happened to my happy ending we were supposed to have together. I think it is a great choice as a second single as it is a powerful track from the album.
7. Nobodys Home Avril performed some of her new songs before they came out live and what was there was Avril strumming away on the guitar belting out this amazing song . I Didn't actually think she played guitar at all when her first album came out , i thought it was just an ambition of hers and she just wanted to play guitar , but she actually can play and really good as this song shows.
8. Forgotten A haunting sounding intro with amazing lyrics to compliment the really cool intro. That sound fades and a more rocky sound enters as it continues into the chorus where Avril uses the full use of her voice. The Music and her Voice grow gradually in the song to create more effect and power in the song and the final product is amazing. Wicked Cool Song
9. Who Knows ? Slow soft intro leading into a more rocky sounding chorus with an amazing upbeat sound throughout the whole song. A lot of Yeah, yeah Yeah-eah, yeah Yeah-eah, yeah in the song which creates a nice, upbeat sound throughout. The song seems to be about living life to the fullest and having fun because no-one knows what is coming next in life ! I lIke That message a lot , just have FUN !
10. Fall To Pieces Acoustic intro , different from all the rest of the songs more original ! Great acoustic lively sound in the chorus which could have you humming along to all day. Very Likable song which will be loved by everyone ! Great song for a next single Avril ;) ! Basically about being in love and not wanting to fall into pieces just be with the person you love all the time.
11. Freak Out Electric guitar sounding start then into more lively guitaring then lightens down a bit and that's all before the first lyric in the first verse. Original ,interesting song with a great interesting meaning ! Live you live the way you want and don't take everything seriously ! "I'm gonna close my eyes I can't watch the time go by" This is saying have fun with life and Don't Let time pass so quickly !
12. Slipped Away Probably the song with most meaning to Avril and also the slowest song on the whole album. This song features a lot of emotion and powerful , dramatic melody through out. Song is about her Grandpa Passing Away and how she missed it all and never even got to say Goodbye and how she wishes she got to say her last goodbye." I Didn't Get Around To Kiss You" and " I Miss You , I Miss You So Bad" These lyrics show the pure emotion and depth of this song and it actually is one of my favourites from the album , great sound , and meaning.
13. I Always get What I Want This is a UK Bonus track especially for us Lucky UK people ! A Sort of Blink 182 sounding song , more lively and more full of attitude ! A Loud , funky sounding track which makes you bounce around a bit and laugh a bit at her lyrics. One of the less serious lyrics in the album but hey as she says in 'Freak Out' Don't Take Everything so seriously ! The song basically is about hr always getting what she wants and i think she is jokingly talking about how now she is famous she always has to get what she wants !
Overall this album is an AMAZING Album with a lot of depth, meaning and originality to it and as the title appropriately states "In My Skin" This album definitely goes under her skin to show what she thinks and believes and a lot of people can relate to these feelings and understands what she is talking about. Top Album !!
