This album is really one of the better albums out there. It sort of stinks as a whole that everybody doesn't love it.
Everybody should try and obtain this CD.
I hope everybody who buys CDs, will please go out and spend their good money on this one.

that made her debut, Let Go, a multi-million seller. Acoustic guitars bolstered by rock riffs in the chorus and sing-along vocals for angst-ridden teens confirm Lavigne's reputation as Alanis Morrisette's mini-me. Although similar in style to her debut, it is clear that Lavigne has matured greatly as a singer and in some cases, songwriter. Lead single "Don't Tell Me" may not have the instant appeal of "Complicated" but has a greater depth and just gets better with every listen. Opening song "Take Me Away" sets the style for much of Under My Skin--sounding like Stiltskin's "Inside", it's a grandly over-produced power ballad by numbers. However, with 80s rock still on the rise and no-one new out there doing it nearly this well, it can only be a good thing. "He Wasn't" and "I Always Get What I Want" break the mould of the album and are high-energy pop-punk of the highest order, the latter an obvious standout--one would imagine it'll become a huge live favourite. It may not be anything new, exciting or different but Under My Skin is so well written and executed it'll undoubtedly propel Avril Lavigne into a whole new stratosphere of rock stardom. --David Trueman

While Avril Lavigne's 2002 debut, LET GO, arrived amidst a tidal wave of teen female performers, the 17-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter managed to distinguish herself with a punk-rock attitude tempered by a hooky pop sensibility. Lavigne's sound reached a remarkably wide audience, even inspiring indie-rock icon Liz Phair to openly pattern her next record after it. With her 2004 follow-up, UNDER MY SKIN, Lavigne makes it clear which side of the pop-rock precipice she's standing on. Instead of pop producers such as the Matrix, Lavigne aligns herself with Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida and Linkin Park producer Don Gilmore. The result is a much more complex record--an angst-ridden, soul-searching album that rocks with fury without losing a keen ear for melody. This is clear from the outset with the brooding, lushly orchestrated, guitar-driven opening track "Take Me Away." However, while the music has significantly matured, Lavigne's lyrics still possess the same sense of teenage confusion and frustration so charming on her debut. UNDER MY SKIN is an impressive step for the young songwriter, and it effectively transcends the teen-pop label she inevitably received with her first record.
