Advantages: A strong pop effort with a darkier, edgier backbone. Disadvantages: One weak track - Kyoto Song - doesn't fit in to the album.
with exciting swirls and synth hooks turning it from good to great. And underneath the lyrics seemed as dark as ever. "Yesterday I got so scared I shivered like a child" fits well superficially over the driving beat, but also reveals a hidden meaning to the song, giving it an extra dimension.
The next two songs are more of a return to The Cure's darker side. 'Kyoto Song' is a 4 minute brooding piece which could be accused of never really heading anywhere, but it's a nice song nevertheless, if sounding of a bit of a departure after 'Inbetween Days'. The next song, 'The Blood' is as dark as what can be expected, but it has an excellent pop rhythm under it, inspired evidently by Spanish Guitar and Flamenco, and also Eastern music, drawing in some Indian influences. They pull it off better then anyone could have ever imagined it, creating an intense ...

Glow-In-The-Dark BONEY HEAD !!
The Electronic Pick-Up-Styx Game
One of a few games we have around the place that still has all its bits intact, and one the boy will actually sit still and play. It's a Skull 'n' Bones version of pick-up-sticks and I agree with little boy it's actually pretty good fun !
It comes in a fair sized orange/yellow box covered in pictures and descriptions / instructions and suchlike. Plus it actually fits back in the box easily too always a bonus.
The game is classed as suitable for ages 5+ though my boy is four and can play fine - he can get it out and set it up himself and the game is simple enough for him to understand and play. Has been dropped a few time too and still works fine. It's suitable for 2 players or more.
The Skull part comes in 2 pieces and you simply click them ...
Advantages: A couple of superb songs and my all time favourite track Disadvantages: A filler album really
This album comes from the middle period of the second phase of the Moody Blues history. The line up had consolidated following the loss of Mike Pinder and Patrick Moraz was established as the keyboard player. The last but one album (?Long distance Voyager?) had been a huge success and the loyal fans continued to flock to the British and American tours.
?The Other Side? presents a heavier sound than most previous albums. There is still the presence of the driving beat and the ?wall of sound? that became the group?s hallmark. However the tracks themselves are somewhat repetitive in nature and apart from one ballad there is a lack of the distinctive and plaintive lyrics this time from Justin Hayward. It is relatively short at 42 minutes playing time.
Released in May 1986, it reached a peak at No.9 in the US album charts and No.24 in ...
