Advantages: Almost classic Quo Disadvantages: Unneccessary remake of 'Don't Fade Away'
The first Quo album I bought was back in '77, aged 13 - Rockin'All Over The World. Event back then, in my formative years, Quo were unfashionable - this was the Punk/New Romantic/Mods/Ska period. I then proceeded to buy every album thereafter.
But whaahey! What the hell - Quo have never made any pretence at being anything but a good time, let's have a party, rock n roll time. I pre-ordered 'Under The Influence', having first bought ... ...When it arrived, I hastily slapped in the CD tray and what!!!!!!!
The opener 'Twenty Wild Horses' blew me away. After the disappointing tedium of 'Don't Stop' (a contract fulfilment album if ever I heard one), 'UTI' delivered. 'Under The Influence' 'Keep 'em comin', 'Round and Round' 'The Way it Goes' were all good, honest Quo - head down, guitars chugging and pounding, rhythm driving along. O glory days!

'Blesses are the meek' was (and is) brilliant - Francis Rossi at his sublime best. When Quo play like this, it shows why they are such a part of British culture as The Times, Fish n Chips etc
The only let down was the totally unneccessary remake of 'Don't Fade Away' - why do Quo insist in recording other artists' tracks when they are perfectly capable of writing their own good stuff?

Having lost their way somewhat with a redundant live album and an enjoyable but hardly earth-shattering cover versions album, the ultimate pub rockers proved they still had a few shots in their locker. "The Way It Goes" and "Round And Round" are no-nonsense Quo boogie the way we've always known and loved 'em for; "Blessed Are the Meek" is Francis Rossi's pure pop at its finest, while "Little White Lies" is Rick Parfitt beating the Traveling Wilburys ... ...opening track "Twenty Wild Horses", a joyous romp of an Irish jig rocker (remember their stage favourite from 1977 "Hol;d You Back"?), that's guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and your feet - and make you wish they'd co-opted the Corrs or the Chieftains, or both, to add a little more Celtic magic to the proceedings. It's enough to make you forgive them that rather redundant version of "Not Fade Away", the only non-original track here. ...

The Under the influence album by status quo is my favourite album by Status Quo, I think this one has some of the best music that status quo have made, although i loved quo all my life, this album has to be the best one for me, This album was released with 3 singles, 20 wild horses, Little white lies, and the way it goes, This album is one of the rockiest albums theyve ever produced. I really like songs like Making waves, little me and you, and round ...
