This is a very very good album which includes both upbeat track and slower songs. It is of typical sum 41, mixing chuck with does this look infected, which seems to of come out a winner! although there are less guitar solos, because of one of there original guitarists leaving, you can barely tell, because the awesome riffs and great lyrics take over. I would definitely recommend this album to anyone who likes punk music or heavier music. The track march of the dogs was the last released single, and you can really see why; it again has really good lyrics and great backing. You can see how Deryck has matured with his writing because is isn't as silly as it was in the first two albums; half an hour of power and all killer no filler, although this fun sounding music can be heard in certain songs on underclass hero, such as ma poubelle, writing in french, and for those of you who don't know french, this means my bin. There you go, back to typical stupid sum 41 lyrics that we all no and love from there beginning. There is also some new sounds on this album with songs like pull the curtain because although it sounds as though it could've come from chuck you can tell it hasn't because of this more upbeat sound. (For those who dont really know sum 41, where have you been!!, but does this look infected is where they got a bit heavier, but still quite a fun sound, and then chuck became much more depressing sounding, and from the album cover seems to be relating to war. although it is still a very good album!) The BBC don't seem to think it's going to well saying: 'It appears that Sum 41 are fast becoming the Derek Wibley show: the album produced, mixed and written by Wibley, the cover art is a black and white picture of the solitary singer making the Underclass Hero title is seemingly loaded. Five albums into their career and recently losing founding member Dave 'Brownsound' Baksh to creative differences, this is the sound of a band, if not one particular member, desperate to shed the bratty image that brought them to notoriety.

Part political paeans, part snotty punk and part highly personally emotional exorcisms, Underclass Hero is a curious mix of sounds. With the tide now turned against pop punk, a disjointed album sounding like a collection of Blink 182 b-sides may not be enough to save this band.'

but they are most definitely wrong, they are nothing like blink 182, and this album definitely shows it.

Other reviews include:
'Now, I've rated this album 5star because I thought it was actually a really great album. But alot of reviews seem to be saying SUM41 have returned to their "Punk" days.... Not so true. the opening track is pretty much "In Too Deep" after that the album pretty much takes a very blink182 turn ie. "take off your pants" album.

in no way am i 'dissin' the album, i just think it's been reviewed wrong. it's not punk atall.' amazon rating

although i still disagree with the blink 182 side.
