What can I say that hasn't already been said about England's most prolific football club. Most people know everything from the Munich air disaster to the treble season of 1998/99, two hugely differing events in the history of an absolutely fantastic football team. I personally have been priveleged to support such a great side ever since my birth in 1986, and having gone on to see them roughly 500 times in various areas of the country (and the world).

However, as his powers waned, he unfortunately became a bitter old man, seemingly causing controversy for the sake of it. His comments on the Liverpool fan's involvement in Hillsborough were hurtful beyond measure and were also stupid and wrong and have left a deep impression on many people.
Despite his huge success as a player and manager, the most intriguing period of his career, and the part 'The Damned United' largely focuses on, is also his least successful; his 44 day spell in charge of the Leeds Utd team.

It'd be interesting to see who comes out as the winner in a most hated poll between controversial ex-football manager Brian Clough and fallen giants Leeds United, considering that critics and opposing fans have expressed their hatred for both down the years. And whereas The Damned United -- a film which depicts Clough's 44-day employment at the club -- will hardly drastically alter people's opinions on either of the subjects, it is still an incredibly involving [British] drama that warrants the attention of anyone interested in football.
The same can be said of the book by David Peace, from which the film's story is based upon. Despite friends and family reacting angrily to the author's depiction of Clough's erratic train of thought, it really is a fascinating, semi-fictionalised account of one of the sport's most popular figures.
