obvious example of how Dylan can transform his own songs is his new rendering of "The Times They Are A-Changin'." When he first recorded it for the '64 album of the same name, the song was a clarion call to action, a triumphant promise that better times were just around the corner. When he performed it for MTV, it became a dirge-like march, a prophet's dire warning that the world is going down the tubes in a hurry. The new version opens with weepy dobro and funereal organ, and Dylan's slowed-down, low moan gives an entirely different spin to such phrases as "The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast," or "Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command." --Geoffrey Himes

Advantages: Dylan fans will love this. Disadvantages: None-Dylan fanes my not.
Excellent sound quality thought-out. I think this is one of the best Live Dylan I have heard.
Starts with the wonderful Tombstone blues-Clear messages great vocals.
Then, settling goes into the romantic Shooting stars.
Bursting into All along the watchtower followed by the times they are a changing’ makes you want to stand up and sway from side to side and join in with the singing.
John Brown is harrowing; you can do nothing ... ...down for Desolation row, and then gets faster for Rainy day woman-this change in tempo is a real pleasure.
A beautiful love song follows, this is really nice live and clear.
Dignity is interesting-you have to just listen to it and enjoy.
Knockin’ on heavens door is nothing unusual or exiting, just good music, and lyrics.
Dylan finishes with God on our side a great finish to a great concert.

Advantages: A selection of true classics Disadvantages: Bobs past his best
...particularly because it’s not completely unplugged anyway, what with its “electric” organ and “electric” slide guitar. But, let’s face it, Bob’s past his beat, he needs a good band. Brutal, but it has to be said. As such, MTV Unplugged presents an extremely well played greatest hits run through, featuring a selection of genuine classics. Some of the performances, like the lacklustre version of Desolation ... ...gig is elevated by some rocking tunes, including the glorious Rainy Day Women, and a Guns ‘N Roses-embarrasing Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door. As for Bob, he’s in good form, a pleasurable parody of himself throughout, taking the nasal throaty wine to ridiculous extremes. It’s testament to the genius of the man that a selection of his greatest songs could constitute any one of about 4 completely different sets. As for this ...

Advantages: Great Tracks Throughout Disadvantages: None
of the Eric Clapton, as we here rounds and cheering and clapping between and occasionally during the songs. The songs given here make up the main bulk of the material recorded, except for three other tracks which can be found on other releases, mainly bootleg material. But despite the reduction in the track listing, the album is cohesive, and it is only the seemingly impromptu rendition of Rollin? And Tumblin? that contains a slight pause before it.
As an album it is perhaps one of my favourite, containing great tracks throughout, with classics such as Layla reworked for the acoustic environment, and 10 covers of blues material added in for a release that is perfect for the small scale environment that they were played for. I do own a couple of other Unplugged releases, Paul McCartney and BobDylan, but this is probably my favourite, as ...
Advantages: Power, social care etc Disadvantages: none, just read the thing man!
the shocking end to the tale the final verse also makes a statement about how the poor and those in other such positions in society become no more than mere numbers. An example I would give to explain this is that when people think of "the unemployed" they often think more of a number like 1.5 million than they do of individual people struggling to find a job. It's so wrong to just stick numbers and labels on people, these are human beings no less and no more important than any other human being.
3- With God On Our Side [7:05]
I feel a special attachment to this song because it was upon listening to the MTV Unplugged performance that I first realised that I was a lucky person to share the earth at the same time as BobDylan. The so far constant theme of simple and sparse guitar work continues once more, though the harmonica solos are really ...
