Album Reviews: Down Beat (9/00, p.62) - 4.5 stars out of 5 - "...Her knack for working up clever charts sweeps us through 50 years of solid jazz hits....Sutton shows a silk ear for texture, a snappy turn of phrase, and no fear of trading fours."
Advantages: Proved there was more to the band than hit singles Disadvantages: A couple of slightly questionable inclusions
...It was ironic that while Sweet were struggling for recognition as an albums band in the UK at their peak, they became heroes abroad. Relased at the end of 1974, 'Desolation Boulevard' failed to chart at home but made the US Top 30 and attained gold disc status. It was, and remains, an excellent album that proved they were adept at making good singles but had considerably more potential than that. The title was taken from the opening track (and single), the very melodic "The Six Teens", which couldn't have been more different from the third track and next single, the ferociously punkish "Turn It Down", which fell foul of the Radio 1 playlist compilers on the grounds of dodgy language (well, for those days!) and only just scraped the Top 50. Advantages: Finally reappearing with their 3rd album Disadvantages: Just not quite as good as before

However, many would argue they’ve failed to scale the possible heights they could have attained. The reason? Well, there isn’t one, as this album proves…they may just be one of life’s unlucky bands……
Opening track “To Die For” fails to capture the listeners imagination compared with the opening tracks...

Advantages: A fun alternative and eclectic sounding album Disadvantages: None
...A good album from gym class heroes released in 2007.I liked the sound and style this whole album had to offer.I feel that it was and still is very creative and alternative,it mixes r'n'b, hip hop and pop all together to create contageously catchy and distinctive sounding songs.
I really liked alot of the songs used on this album from the chart ready track: clothes off to my favourite slow sounding track: On My Own Time (Write On!)
The whole album was just enjoyable and fun to listen to. It took you through a wide variety of emotions and feelings which for me makes a good album.
Definately one of my favourite albums of all times and definately something that I would highly recommend to anyone, you will not be disappointed with this album,it has a quirky and fun high school poppy sound that just makes it even better to listen to from...
