The material dates from the late 1930s ("Rock Me") through the `50s ("Up Above My Head"), and provides a nice introduction to the venerable singer's work.

Advantages: It's original, catchy and is the in-thing just now. Disadvantages: The high pitched vocals may get on your nerves.
...The NY quintet have been described as the coolest thing to hit the music scene for a while. And they're certainly not overrated, as I discovered. I have a taste that covers a lot of genres but I never dreamed I would be into a band like this - it was an impulse buy and it took my a few days to bother giving it a spin. I'm glad I did - from start to finish, it is a musical masterpiece.
The Sisters take their influences from people like the Pet Shop Boys, the Bee Gees, Jamiroqui and Elton John, to name but a few. They cover 70's and 80's, funk, electro, dance, pop, disco and rock, all rolled into one, which does sound like an absolute mish-mash, but it works amazingly well, and you can only discover just how it works so well by buying the album.
Scissor Sisters are certainly not a band that can be overlooked, being described at times...

Advantages: Totally original, funky sound, one of those albums that will be remembered simply for its originality Disadvantages: not all the songs are brilliant, the novelty does not last
...The Scissor Sisters have come out of no where, and have 'cut' their way into my musical life. This album really has to be heard to be believed, because to quote Avid Merrion "I dont know what they are!"
The vocals, the lyrics, the music; all are completely unique. Iv never head a bloke, aside from Justin Timberlake and his namesake Justin Hawkins of Darkness fame, that can hit those notes, but this man does so much better. Its like all the Bee Gees in one man.
This album has everything, Funk, Rock, Electric rock, jazz and soul. Now i know alot of albums have a bit of variety, but how many of them can combine all of these elements into each song?!?! Each song is like a musical feast.

Advantages: When you read this you will know more about the Scissor sisters. Disadvantages: None because its great!
.... Reminds me of Gary Newman. I personally love this song too. Very up beat and catchy, I would happily dance and get ready to go out listening to this song.
I bought my Scissor Sisters CD from Asda and it only cost me £9.77. This CD should be available in your local music shops and is also available on amazon at £9.99 (new).
