This is in my opinin the best album The Verve have, they are a great band, and its a shame they split up. This is them at there best.
1. Bittersweet Symphony This must be there most popular song of this album, this song is the reason why I purchased the album. Lovely texture, great string backing and great harmonies.
2. Sonnet Nice easy listening music, very nice lyrics, and they are very deep too. Very nice to listen to.
3. Rolling People This has some of the nicest rythyms out of the whole album, and it also has some some extremely nice harmonies, which is think are spine tingling. There is even a hint of vibrato when he sings aswell (Shaking the notes around a bit to make them more active and sound better)
4. Drugs Don't Work This song has a light texture and its lyrics are very deep and very true in what they say. Again some beautiful harmonies thaty just add to the quality of the song.
5. Catching the Butterfly This is a another great song, lovely lyrics, nice easy listening, some very close harmonies too. Nice song to listen to, its also very relaxing.
6. Neon Wilderness A slow mystical piece, that just seems to have no purpose, its quite relaxing, and quite nice to listen to, it almost feels like its a very depressed person walking down a street in slow motion.
7. Space and Time Another slow relaxing song, very easy listening, with some great lyrics.
8. Weeping Willow A great song, which features some superb lyrics and some really rich guitar sounds and some solid drum playing.
9. Lucky Man Another nice easy listening song, with nice lyrics, and some smooth guitar playing
10. One Day A nice relaxing song, with a steady quiet drum beat, a light texture and great lyrics.
11. This Time A slightly more upbeat song, with alot more movement in the guitar parts very nice to listen to, very nice song. Gets a little more lively in the chorus.
12. Velvet Morning A nice quiet upbeat song. Good to listen to, to pass the time. Simple guitar and drum parts make it very easy listening.
13. Come On This is a nice piece to conclude the album, nice and upbeat, with some great guitar and drum passages.
Overall this is a fantastic album!

Some good songs there. I last heard a Verve song in June last year. Someone in the flat above me played it. Richard Ashcroft comes from Appley Bridge. So does Sheila. She always did prefer white guys over the rest. A good review. Thanks...Paul
