Advantages: Soft, cuddly and long lasting Disadvantages: Only available from Woolworths
As I sit surrounded by mountains of children's toys, each one staring blankly at me waiting patiently to be played with, there is one face that stands out amongst the rest, the oldest and perhaps most loved of all my little boys toys. When we found out we were expecting Christopher 4 years ago my then fiancée, now husband, wanted to buy him his first teddy bear, one that he could keep forever and remember fond times with, working at Woolworths gave him the perfect opportunity to find a suitable bear and he chose the adorable Chad Valley My First Bear in powder blue.
My First Bear-
Chad Valley is a toy range only found in Woolworths stores and so the bear is unique to those stores. Coming in baby pink or powder blue (at the time of purchase) the bear has wonderfully soft "fur", soft and silky like the gentlest lambs wool the plush ...
Advantages: Really soft and cuddly Disadvantages: Might have to buy another one as a spare for your child!
I first came across the Chad Valley My First Bear when I was pregnant with my son in 2002. My Mum wanted to buy a special first gift, and since we found out that he was a boy, she rushed straight out to the Woolworths toy section. She could not leave this gorgeous cuddly bear on the shelf. They were available in blue or pink, in a sitting position at about 13 inches tall. A very traditional looking bear who is softer than he looks on the shelf. Lots of 'beans' in his bottom with a plush feel. He has realistic bead eyes, sewn on mouth, nose, 'cross' belly button and toes.
My second child was a girl and was born in December 2003. My Mum was very excited to rush out and get the pink version of the bear for her. However, the bears had by now changed design and they were smaller with a different fur texture. We did not think ...
Advantages: Amazing scenery Disadvantages: Week story and can easily get bored watching
The Bear is one of my husbands favourite films and he has been trying to get it on DVD for a very long time so I decided I would treat him for when he returned home from Afghan. The only trouble with getting it for him is that he wanted me to watch it with him!
THE FILM
The film is set in the mountains of British Columbia in 1885.
The film is based on a bear cub who looses his mother when a big rock falls on her. He is left all alone struggling to survive. He comes across a giant male bear but the bear wants nothing to do with the cub as the male bears do not rear the cubs.
The male bear gets shot by hunters who are out in the forest looking for a kill. The wounded bear goes off and tries to heal his wound. The brave bear cub goes over to him and helps him by licking his wound. The male bear befriends the cub and decides ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of The Bear (DVD)
On the limmited edition it has all the music videos on it as well! An excellent touch I think!
The cover is the only downside that I have found, it looks nice now but after time it's going to be a bit scruffy as it's made like a hard back book with no plastic covering. (*)
