Advantages: A new way to hear Beethoven
Disadvantages: Surpassed by some later period cycles

...reinterpreted by the likes of Gardiner, Mackerras, Zinman and even Norrington himself that have by now surpassed the original Norrington set, but there is a certain historical value to that 1989 set that was the first to take Beethoven in this direction and breaking a tradition that had been in vogue since the composer's death in 1827. In 2001 they were re-released on the Virgin label and are still readily available in a set of five CD. THE SYMPHONIES Symphony No.1 in C major, Op.21 The First Symphony is one of the best of the set. Sith score completes Williams' Star Wars cycle

Advantages: John Williams' score, great performance by the LSO
Disadvantages: Tracks don't follow the film's action

...above Coruscant, we hear music that is played later in the film. The music is wonderful, of course, and the average listener wouldn't notice the discrepancy, but this technique, while it might sound nice and still has musical coherence, is not an accurate representation of the chronology of the film score. Outstanding Tracks: Although I like all 15 tracks of this 70-minute compilation of music from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, five selections stand heads and shoulders above the rest in this score that is a musical mixture of tragic darkness and the fitful glimmers of the "new hope" to come. Track 1: Star Wars and The Revenge of the Sith: John Williams begins his score for Revenge of the Sith with the familiar Star Wars Main Title that is heard in every Episode as the opening crawl sets up the film's storyline...
