Album Notes: Consistent with its title, VERSION 3.0 is the third release from Desdemona, the brooding, ambient metal force led by female vocalist Agata Pawlowicz.
Advantages: Fantastic Covers of songs you will know and love. Disadvantages: not long enough!!
...A fantastic album which gets better each time you listen to it.
A mixture of his own work and cover versions produced by himself sung by various artists including Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse and Lilly Allen. A lot of versions you would have heard before and not realised they were Mark Ronson - in many of the cases, the Mark Ronson version is better than the original.
He has tinkered with the songs in his own way but has managed to keep them cool. The album always, to me anyway, feels like Jules Holland doing pop music with lots of trumpets and bongos to give the songs their own individuality.
Well worth a listen - especially the version of Toxic originally by Britney - a totally different take on the song which works fabulously....

Advantages: Unique, original, underrated. Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted / pop lover!
...'Version 2.0' is one of those albums that takes a while to get into, but it is definitely worth the effort. At first I thought 'Garbage' was by far the better album but now I've listened to 'Version 2.0' a little more, I'm finding it hard to choose between them.
'Version 2.0' is quite different to 'Garbage' and you can see how the band have developed their sound with more high tech wizardry and sound effects. There are still songs with the hard, punky edge, such as 'Wicked Ways' and 'I Think I'm Paranoid'. However, tracks like 'The Trick Is To Keep Breathing' and 'You Look So Fine' have a softer but amazingly atmospheric feel. There are some brilliant acoustic versions available also: in particular 'Medication' and 'You Look So Fine', which can be found on Napster. Unlike many bands, Garbage realise that to produce an acoustic...

...Mark Ronson is a British born, US based DJ and producer. He has been DJing since the early ninites, and released his first album in 2003 (Here Comes the Fuzz). This album suffered badly due to the collapse of the label it was released on and failed to make much impression. As well as releasing Version, Mark has also been producing tracks for Lilly Allen, Christina Aguliera, Amy Winehouse and Robbie Williams, he is also the face of DKNY. Busy man!
About VersionVersion was released in April 2007 and has just earned Mark the Best British Male Brit award. The album is based on reworkings of exisitng songs. It came about following the club success of the reworking of Radiohead's "Just." In his own words: "..I've taken these songs that I love and turned them into Motown/Stax 70's versions... I'm just trying to find something in it...
