...A cracking album from one of the u.k top folk artists. This album shows a true cross section of work from Bert's repertoire. Personally, i like every track on the album and as a fellow musician Bert's arrangements are exceptionally good and complex! There are the traditional tracks like "Black waterside" (Led Zeplin used Bert's arrangement for one of their own tracks,) aswell as reading of "Nottamun Town" and the murder ballad "Bruton Town." If you like your english folk music then you can't go wrong with one of the best examples of folk guitar. This album is a mixture of self-penned songs, trad folk and examples of the tunes that were taken into his band The Pentangle. I have been a fan of Bert's for years and this album is one of the best examples of his career spanning the last 40 yrs.... Read review

Advantages: Catchy Songs, Excellent Riffs, Awesome Lyrics and Great Album Art!
Disadvantages: Not very long (just under 40mins.) Not as much screaming.

...with Bert’s voice coming in like a storyteller. It progresses to an awesome chorus, pounding drums and thrashing guitars. It sounds like a Tim Burton film and you can quite easily picture a kind of Nightmare Before Christmas story being told. The video, however for this song is one of the best music video’s I have ever seen! It is a fast, twisted story with Bert being torn apart by the 2 sides of himself. Advantages: Awesome lyrics provided by the one and only bert mccracken
Disadvantages: one or two songs that arent as good

...problem with this song is that bert repeats the words, "flee from the torment" so many times! You will either like or dislike this song! Theres no in betweens. Sound effects and overdramatics: I really like this song, its another energetic one with killer guitar riffs, even good drum riffs! It has brilliant screaming vocals that makes me want to scream along with bert, "kill.smile.cut it out! for me this time. smile!" This exhilirating song is one of the best ones on the cd! Hard to say: This isnt an energetic, adrenaline pumping aong, but it has awesome lyrics, "its hard to say how i feel today, years gone by, and i cry!" The used really are a brilliant for these meaningful lyrics that really do capture the emotions of bert mccracken and his band!
