Bert Weedon was a genius with a guitar in hands in my opinion. He was a major '50 influence ,why? because he was so damn good at playing guitar. And second of all because his style of pop-instrumental music was so attractive especially to the teenagers of that that time that he became a living legend of the fifties in england. Why I like this guy so much is because I consider him the same as Roger Williams and his music is a relaxation and the time spent to listen to his music is a great way to escape from the rush of our days. The very best of Bert Weedon is a compilation released in 2004 by EMI Gold label and it's the reincarnation of the best work of this forgotten genius. Now if you listen to his music bert weedon tries very hard to influence the music of his time by giving the guitar sound a sweet and sour taste by alternating very quickly the rithmicity and the tones of the guitar. This compilation tries to mix the stages of his entire collection but is not doing a very good job.
And thats because it is not gradual in any way and does now respect the order of the songs for the listener to really understand the evolution of this artist So if someone listens to this compilation it will probably think that bert weedon was not such a genius but his music was just ok. That is wrong in my opinion and thats why the creators of this complilation are to blame Thats why If you will own this compilation I advise you to listen first to the next selection of tracks made by me from this compilation which will give you a first clue of him and his great music: track3-Mr.Guitar track9-sweet georgia brown track13-malaguena track 18(a trademark of bert weedon)-pretty baby and finally track 25-charlie boy
Of course all the tracks on this compilation are great but please do me a favor and first listen to those tracks above and you will instantly fall in love with this guy.
