This really is a great album from a band generally regarded as a true "Supergroup".
I would call their style of music as soft rock or maybe pop rock although there are some tracks on this album such as "Albatross" and "The Chain" that are a million miles away from any sort of generic description of genre because they are so unique. The stupendously fantastic guitar solo near the end of "The Chain" was for many years the theme tune to the BBC's television coverage of Formula 1 Motor Racing.
This album of 21 tracks covers the 1975 to 1987 period when Peter Green was the guitarist and a big creative influence on the group.
The album really has so many great tracks on it that range from pop to folk to introspective to soft and medium rock to anthem like sing a long songs.
One such anthem sing along type song is "Go Your Own Way" which is track 1. "Don't Stop" (track 2) famously was used as Bill Clinton's campaign theme song for the 1993 U.S. Presidential election.
This really is a great album with a variety of great music on it and can be bought second hand at a value for money price of around £6 plus P & P on Amazon as of March 2009.
