Very Best Of Kiss, The - Kiss

Advantages: It rocks

...PAul took it upon himself to write song that in my opinion were possible rejects of Kiss songs. Having said that, they are very good indeed! 'Wouldn't You Like to Know Me?' shows us that Paul can belt out really raucous tracks when he wants to, but this is tempere by rock-ballads such a 'Take Me Away'. Paul is obviously the core that Kiss build on when it comes to their musical id. Without him (or Gene to think of it), Kiss could not exist. This album is a must for Kiss fans who want to hear standard Kiss-formula tracks and do not want some Progressive depatures that other members offered at the same time. If and when Paul tours by himself again after Kiss finally spit up for good, then this album will provide more than enough material for him to perform.... Read review

...This was Kiss' first compilation LP (not including The Originals) na dwas released due to the members having some time off from touring and also to help them sit down and write songs for their solo albums. There is one re-recording - Strutter '78 - with the rest being taken directly from the previous albums. Some songs were given a slight remix or have their endings changed, such as Detroit Rock City having a sudden stop instead of crashing car noises. In its original vinyl form, it was first released as a double LP in a very glitzy silver (platinum?) double sleeve. The CD however does not have this, but does manage to have all tracks confined to one disc. Not the best compilation Kiss have done, but bad by any means.... Read review

...A totally live double album from the glam rockers kiss. The quality of the production is amazing but you can still hear the bangs, crashes and explosions from the kiss show as fireworks explode on stage. Recorded on the famous Casablanca label. This is a fantastic live album. It shows kiss in all their make-up and stage presence. You wanted the best you got the best Kiss it is like having all of kiss's previous albums in one. The album demonstrates what a superb line up Kiss had at this stage in their history. All great musicans with an ability to sing when the occasion permitted and on this live recording all the members took their turn at the microphone. Favourite tracks include for me the ballard "Beth" and the classic rock tracks "Calling Dr Love and "Love Gun" 20 track classy double album. I would recommend this as a treat for any... Read review
