Advantages: A fun, sophisticated pop album Disadvantages: None
At just 19 years old, Hilary Duff has achieved a lot. She rose to fame as a teenager in Disney's hit TV show 'Lizzie McGuire', since then she has starred in many movies, has released 4 studio albums, she has her own clothing range and has recently launched her own fragrance 'With Love'.
Her fourth album 'Dignity' has just been released in the UK. 'Dignity' shows how she has matured and grown up. She is back with a sophisticated new image and new sound. Her previous albums have been of a pop/rock sound but now she has moved onto a more pop/dance sound. I own her 3rd album 'Most Wanted' which was a sort of a greatest hits CD, I have to say that there is such a difference between this one and 'Dignity'. 'Dignity' is far better in my opinion, she seems to have found a style that suits her so I hope she sticks to this now.

Advantages: A few good tracks. Disadvantages: Quite a few poor tracks, limited audience.
out of America these days.
The opening track on the album is a classic pop tune; "Wake Up" is lively and full of optimism, a track that is certainly determined to wake you up at all costs. The second track up is entitled "The Getaway" and feels a lot more heartfelt than the previous track. It's not restricted to just cheesy pop (thankfully) but actually borders on the pop rock genre. While listening to these lyrics I actually felt I could relate to the girl, although the lyrics are very basic at the literal level if you look deeper into the figurative level Duff manages to get across what ...
Advantages: HIGHLIGHTS ISSUES ABOUT WOMEN IN OTHER CULTURES Disadvantages: FULL OF ADS, PATRONISING!!
MARIE - CLAIRE
I used to buy this magazine in my twenties, but then stopped. I now only read it at the hairdressers. This is why:
***WHAT DOES IT OFFER?***
Marie-Claire is a fashion magazine with special interest articles aimed at women. It's motto is "Fashion With Heart" and it is priced at £3.30. This month's issue (Jan) has 244 pages, plus a 32 page special about hair at the back (confusingly upside down).
It has an expensive glossy feel to it with heavy quality pages. However a rough estimation tells me that over 50% of it's content is ads!!. In fact, I leaf through 8 pages of ads before I even get to the editorial. Many of the ads are for high end designer companies such as Prada, Gucci and Armani.
The magazine aims to publish stories about inspirational women and takes an ethical stance (also having a 'green ...
