Meat Loaf is an enigmatic character. Not to everyone's taste, admittedly, but a character all the same. This compilation stems his 22 year career, taking in the best tracks over the period. It highlights his on/off affair with Steinman wonderfully; back on again, Meat is heard singing songs from Jim's collaboration with Lloyd-Webber (No matter what, A kiss is a terrible thing to waste) with some typically long titles. It ranges from the mental (dead ringer for love) to the sentimental (I'd lie for you; not a dry eye, but saves the epitome to the very end with a re-mastered version of Bat Out of Hell. Not everybody admits to liking Meat Loaf, but put this classic on and there won't be a person in the room who doesn't sing along like they're in Venice or something....A classic album which should have given Meat Loaf many more fans than it probably did....I think its great anyway.

Advantages: Great songs and great longevity - I still listen to it regularly Disadvantages: A few not so great tracks, and suffers in comparison to Bat Out Of Hell
