Before I bought this double album, Meat Loaf was, to me, I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) and Bat Out Of Hell. I didn't go looking for this album, but it was on the strength of these songs that I chose it as the final selection in a 3 for £30-type deal, and I have to say I am very glad I did.
The two songs I mentioned are of course in this complilation, as the opening and closing tracks on disc 2 respectively; I'd do Anything For Love is an epic 12 minute album version, as opposed to the single released in the early 90s. But wait - there's more!
I was quite surprised as the opening track on Disc One, Home By Now, phased into No Matter What, more commonly known as a hit for Boyzone. My sister was equally surprised to hear one of my personal favourite tracks, A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste, which, if I remember correctly, she told me is a song from the musical, Whistle Down The Wind. Both songs are the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber / Jim Steinman; Jim Steinman also wrote another 12 of the songs on the album (with a lyrical contribution from Don Black for Is Nothing Sacred), and even performed one himself, the slightly scary Nocturnal Pleasure.
Watch out for guest vocals from Bonnie Tyler on A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste and Cher on Dead Ringer For Love. Other special mentions go to the rediculously-long titled, hauntingly beautiful, Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are; Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto, All-Star Yankee shortstop and voice of the New York Yankees on Paradise By The Dashboard Light, and Reverend Timothy Wright on Is Nothing Sacred, who appears courtesy of Savoy Records, apparently.

Advantages: Great songs and great longevity - I still listen to it regularly Disadvantages: A few not so great tracks, and suffers in comparison to Bat Out Of Hell
