The Very Best Of The Bee Geescollects the brightest spots from one of pop's longest and ... more
most singular careers. When The Bee Gees released "New York Mining Disaster 1941", their first single, the easy melodicism and flawless three-part harmony--sung in broad North-of-England accents--sounded so like The Beatles that a rumour went around that it actually was the Fab Four in disguise. A back-handed compliment, but a telling one: from the start, The Bee Gees had real quality, and a feel for commercial pop that at least stood comparison with the greats. Ten years on, their transformation from earnest, tuneful geeks to hirsute, laid-back disco kings (around the time their manager happened to be producing a low-budget pop movie calledSaturday Night Fever) didn't just resurrect their career, it made them the biggest group in the world. It's those songs that remain The Bee Gees' crowning glory: instantly appealing, produced and performed with the kind of precision that would shame NASA.--Taylor Parkes

Advantages: Great mix of songs Disadvantages: Not for everyone
also written a few words about the brother in this booklet.
This CD will not appeal to all as they have a very unique singing ability but if you like the BeeGees then this is a must.
I did pay £12.99 for each of the CD's that I bought but it can now be picked up a lot cheaper if you shop around. ...
Advantages: Lots of styles of music Disadvantages: May not be to everyone's taste

Currently, the official BeeGees website is still not available as Barry and Robin are deciding what to do next after Maurice's death. However, they'll just use their own names for further material rather than the BeeGees moniker. They've had a chequered history and tragedy at times, as well as a bad reputation at others but the music speaks for itself.
The BeeGees were born in the Isle of Man and lived in Manchester but moved to Australia, apparently after their parents were concerned about the level of (somewhat illegal) mischief they were getting into. It was a bit dramatic to take them to the other side of the world but it's just as well for the world of pop that they did ...

't last and eventually they changed it to The BeeGees, which later in their music career they dropped the 'The' part and stuck with just BeeGees.
Unfortunately in 2003, Maurice Gibb died after a short illness but left behind a legacy with the BeeGees that has yet to be beaten.
