Advantages: Great tracks, enjoyable listening, good value.
Disadvantages: Contains live versions, you have to buy other albums for the original tracks

...I bought this CD in 2007 of Amazon. I got it for £4 brand new. What an excellent album. It features most of the very famous and popular tracks dating from the 1960's to today. "Albatross" is an euphoric track, well ahead of it's time. "Little Lies", "Black Magic Woman", "Tusk", " Go Your Own Way" and "The Chain" which used to be on BBC Formula 1 in the 90's are excellent. I would advice not paying more than £6 or £7 for this album. The only down side is that "Big Love" is a live version. So to get the original you have to buy one of the other greatest hits version. (Marketing me thinks). The sleeve is attractive and gives a lot of information on the band's rise to international fame. 21 tracks in total makes this a cracking buy if you can get it at the right price. Don't buy second-hand copies, these are made by the thousands. Tracks... Read review

Blackstreet - The very best of

Advantages: The best of Blacksteet
Disadvantages: Could have had a couple more?

...Released in 2003, Blacksteet had already been around a number of years but only had released 3 albums, all with mixed reviews. The main stay of this group is Teddy Riley is also known for writing songs for various artists including Michael Jackson and New Kids On the Block! Throughout the years, we've seen the line up change here and there with original member Dave Hollister going solo and other guys coming and going. The release of this album was in my eyes perfectly timed as a short while after this Teddy Riley went nuts, ok not actually mad, but his writing and musical style changed considerably to fit in with the Timbalands and Pharrells of thie world. His experimenting in production took a turn for the worst and this cd really does capture Blackstreet when they were at their best, r&b,coming out the end of the new jack swing era... Read review

Very best of Human League? Bah Humbug.

Disadvantages: Twenty naff tracks.

...The Very Best of the Human League. This compilation of HL tunes was released in 2003 and if you do want to buy it after this review, my advice is iTunes, all 28 songs for £7.99. To buy in most shops as a double CD is still more than £10, and the price (and availability) varies greatly online. To be honest, when I was compiling an 80's playlist for my iPod I needed about 6 songs from HL but could not resist downloading the lot for the price. Did I regret it? would I have been better off getting just a few tracks? well........ 1.Don't You Want Me Absolute classic, who can forget the video. Heavy electronic beats, a great storyline, good vocals and almost everyone knows the lyrics, so this one gets a tick, I've kept it 9/10. 2.Love Action (I Believe In Love) Again, big tick for me.
