I am surprised that no one has written about the beautiful island of Montserrat and how it was before the terrible volcano. Montserrat is a small island in the west indies, (roughly 4 miles round) very close to Antigua and Barbuda which you can see from Montserrat on a clear day (which is usually)! The Island has much greenery and is named the Emerald Isle. This stems from when the island had Irish inhabitants during the times of the Slave Trade. There are still Irish influences on the island, especially when you notice the Montserratians surnames. There is also a strong English influence on the island, place names such as Plymouth (it's capital) and the sight of Red phone and letter boxes. Very Best of British steam

Advantages: Fantasitc footage of the last days of steam

This is another in the eminently professionally produced DVD programmes on steam train released through Green Umbrella. With the Very Best of British Steam of Yesteryear, you are given a real feast for the eyes and also, for the memory, of course. Well, for those of us old enough to remember when steam trains regularly plied their business up and down the main lines of the United Kingdom. The last regular steam runs in Britain came to a very sad halt in August 1968. That's slightly under a year before the first manned space flight to the moon, for those interested in transport trivia. Without an unsung bunch of dedicated enthusiasts and professional and semi-professional film makers in the previous two decades, these wonderful steam trains would not be available to the general public. Review of The Very Best Of British Steam Of Yesteryear (DVD)

Blackstreet - The very best of

Advantages: The best of Blacksteet
Disadvantages: Could have had a couple more?

Released in 2003, Blacksteet had already been around a number of years but only had released 3 albums, all with mixed reviews. The main stay of this group is Teddy Riley is also known for writing songs for various artists including Michael Jackson and New Kids On the Block! Throughout the years, we've seen the line up change here and there with original member Dave Hollister going solo and other guys coming and going. The release of this album was in my eyes perfectly timed as a short while after this Teddy Riley went nuts, ok not actually mad, but his writing and musical style changed considerably to fit in with the Timbalands and Pharrells of thie world. His experimenting in production took a turn for the worst and this cd really does capture Blackstreet when they were at their best, r&b,coming out the end of the new jack swing era ...
