Album Notes: Originally released in 1976, VARIATIONS found Roy Ayers settling comfortably into the soul-funk grooves that would help establish him as a pioneer of the acid jazz and jazz-rap sound (Ayers became a legend in the `90s as a source for sampling jazzy, funky grooves). On VARIATIONS, Ayers turns further away from traditional bop-oriented jazz and more toward vocal R&B. Crate diggers will appreciate the churning funk of "Higher" or "One Sweet Love to Remember" and the smooth R&B ballads like "Baby You Give Me a Feeling," but the highlights of this set are unquestionably the hit "Searchin'" and the funky, good-time title track. The technical playing, especially Ayers's cool-toned vibes, keeps the instrumental jazz flame alive, but VARIATIONS is essentially a funky R&B record, and a fine one at that.
Advantages: Nice insight into the controversial aspects to Roy's playing career Disadvantages: Doesn't cover his time at Celtic, or any of his managerial work
...I have to admit that when my beloved Ipswich Town FC appointed Roy Keane as manger a couple of months ago I was a little sceptical. Most of what I knew about Roy came from the press and news coverage, most of it negative, which seemed to follow him around. Determined to give the latest bastion of the Ipswich hot seat a fair crack of the whip I set about finding out a little more about the man behind the hype and headlines. My Brother recommended his autobiography which he?d penned in 2002 with the help of journalist Eamon Dunphy, so I gave it a read.
Roy Maurice Keane was born in Cork, Ireland in the summer of 1971, the fourth of five children. He was a mediocre performer at school, preferring to be out kicking a ball around than in a class studying. A smattering of junior Irish clubs came calling, most notably Rockmount. He...

...Can you really vibrate you way to a fitter body. The answer to that question is yes (much to many of my female friends delight!). Sports and film stars alike are using this new technology to aid they?re training in the pursuit of increased physical performance or just looking good and the results seem to be extremely positive indeed.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
(apologies to those who read my review on a similar product, having worked in gym?s I have used and trained people using a number of different models).
The idea for the machines were first developed by Russian scientists, who, during the cold war wanted to find a way that would keep there astronauts in shape while they were in space. The problem in space is you cannot train very easily because of the ?Zero gravity?. Now the idea was that by standing on the vibrating...

Advantages: Magical, once ina life time experience, must see! Disadvantages: Heat
...Ayers Rock is roughly in the centre of Australia, having visited it in 2001, it is a once in a life time experience. We actually went to Australia for three weeks, we stayed with family for a week and a half and then travelled the rest. I would say if your going that far you have to at least see some of the amazing sights!! Though when we told our nieghbour where we were going and that we were visiting Ayers Rock their response was ''A bloody long way to go see a rock!!' Which I guess many people might agree with but maybe I can change your minds!
*Getting there*
Ayers Rock is literally in the middle of know where. The easiest way to get there is (This is how we got there!) by plane. The nearest airport is Alice Springs and the trip lasts about 50minutes. If your not a keen flyer then brace yourselves as the actual airport...
