Advantages: Ska-P sublime music for any ska, punk or rock lovers Disadvantages: none this album is flawless
.... As all music lovers should know it is the universal language and can cross barriers and cultures with ease. So with Planet Eskoria we are served 14 lively rocking songs that are a delight and will be able to lift any dour mood and put the sunback in your life with a spring in your step.Ttrust me and then thank my girlfriend for introducing me to them.
'Planet Eskoria' starts with an spooky keyboard and then immediately jumps into the ska beat and rhtym which dominates the album. The track swings and the brass section that the band uses gives great atmosphere to the song.
'Verguenza' is again brassy and has a rocking beat. It is pretty much like the english band 'BadManners' meeting 'The Pogues'.The lyrics are delivered fast and you will find yourself singing your own version as you bop around the room like a child.

Advantages: Superb Spanish ska Disadvantages: I prefer their album, El Vals Del Obrero
...I first came across Ska-P when I saw them live at the San Fermin Bull-running festival in Pamplona in 1997. Their energetic performance was one of the highlights of the festival and so I went and bought their first 2 albums, Ska-P & El Vals Del Obrero. At that time I didn't speak a word of Spanish and didn't have much idea about Spanish life and culture. However, through listening to their music I started to pick up some Spanish and it also gave me an insight into Spanish culture.
QUE CORRA LA VOZ is their 4th album and in my opinion it is their 2nd best behind EL VALS DEL OBRERO. Stand out tracks are CONSUMO GUSTO which is about the perils of this consumer society that we live in, McDOLLAR which is about a certain fast food chain and INSENSIBILIDAD which is about neglected pets bought as presents for christmas.

Advantages: Callas at her best, stylish Alredo Kraus, Mario Sereni brilliant Disadvantages: Rough sound, better version on Pearl label
...recordings by Callas, her Medea with Bernstein and her earlier Traviata with Giulini, and do not find the sound here that bad in comparison. The transfer available through Pearl is of a finer overall standard and buyers would find it worthwhile to search that record on amazon or ciao.
If sound quality is a priority, however, I would say her studio recording in mono, or, for stereo, the Kleiber Traviata with Cotrubas seem to be the best bets. (The studio Callas set has just came out under the 'Naxos' label at bargain price). NB The callas studio set is not in the same league as this recording re Callas and the rest of the cast are pretty bad - best to listen to samples on amazon etc first before buying (Callas is still very good there but if you can live with the sound this set is way better)
