Advantages: A few scarface film samples Disadvantages: Nearly the whole thing
Many people have been influenced by the scarface film and the rap genre has especially referenced to it man songs. This is now an official compilation of songs with money, power and respect themes. as you would imagine, all are rap.
Put together in 2003, this def jam idea includes songs by Nas, Mobb Deep and Notorious BIG, some made especially for the album some old tracks that just fit. None appear in the film but there are samples and dialouge used from the picture.
Tracks
Its Mine - Mobb Deep & Nas. Scarface cues used as the sample in this one which was originally put t ogether in 99. A good relevant track to start the album
Yeo - Cam'ron. Samples Rush Rush which is used in the film, rush rush get the yayo may be more familiar. best bit about the song is actually the sample with cam'rons raps not adding much but loads ...
Advantages: Good background listening Disadvantages: Odd mixture of music on the Uplifting disc
the Enigma Variations as a series of musical portraits of his friends. Nimrod is prbably the most famous of these portraits and was written as a depiction of Elgar's friends and publisher August Jaeger. I wonder if Elgar would like this arrangement for voices, done by John Cameron in 1996. I think it is a soothing piece and fits well with the rest of the CD. But having listened again to the original orchestral version in order to compare the two I think I still prefer the piece as Elgar wrote it. This version with voices doesn't quite have the same inspiring feel.
2 Brahms - 'How Lovely Are Thy Dwelling Places'. This piece is from A German Requiem, which had its first complete performance in 1868. Although it is heard here on the Relaxing CD, personally I find it quite uplifting. I like how the voices weave together, building towards ...
Advantages: Some good remixes and the price Disadvantages: Not many, some fillers but i suppose you get that with every album
This cd is an absolue bargain. I would highly recommend purchasing this as Bad Boy and Puff Daddy are well known for producing good remixes and the series of albums was a very good idea, another money spinning venture but one for the fans who had remixes on b sides of cd singles and recorded off the radio!
Special Delivery - G Dep, Ghostface Killah, Keith Murray & Craig Mack. Quite a repetitive tune but a cult favourite. More likely to hear it in the clubs
I Need A Girl Part 2 - Ginuwine, Mario Winans, P Diddy & Loon. Video and single released off the back of the successful part 1. Some say they prefer this version, i actual do and its one of the best tracks on the album
Bad Boy For Life - P Diddy, Busta Rhymes & MOP. A shouty version of the original. Not bad but too much going on lyrically for me, my ears couldnt take it
I Need ...
