This album Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) 2004, produced by the legendary Rick Rubin has everything you'd expect from the 18 legged machine that is Slipknot, brutal drumming from the master himself Joey Jordison and pounding almost band marching sounds from Shawn "Clown" Crahan and Chris Fehn, crushing guitar riffs and solos from Mick Thomson and Jim Root.
The vocals on this album have to the more sharp eared listener changed to a more melodic, clearer sound due the band evolving and doing much growing up over the years as all people and bands do. Having said that, Slipknot still packs in a bloody good punch of screaming harsh vocals and beats. The lyrical content has changed this album covers a mixture of topics some being war, hate and sadness.
The overall originality I think is spot on this ablum shows how grown up Slipknot have become. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes alternative music.
I think that this album is one of Slipknot's best its really diverse and they try their hands at anything which shows to all that they are not afraid to show people their "softer" side.

Good first review! I'm a noob too so thought I'd give you a 'helpful' :D ... from looking at people's stuff some go into crazy amounts of detail.. not sure it's really necessary, but most people seem to like loads of detail when they're commenting! Slipknot rule!
