Advantages: great fun, entertaining Disadvantages: not great with only two people, can get dead ends, quite big
In my opinion, this is the best family game of all the board games I've tried. This doesn't really count as a board game (see setting up) but it's that sort of style in that you roll dice, move around and have fun. It's quite complicated, so it can take a little while to get used to all the subtleties but it's well worth it.
It can be played by 2-4 people, but it's never as fun with just two. With more players, you can gang up on someone who looks like they're winning. I find with most games, they're better when more people are joining in. You can actually play Mystic Wood with five people, you'll just need to improvise about the fifth playing piece.

Advantages: An acting masterclass by the cream of the crop Disadvantages: Some ends left untied but this is also part of the fantastic unnerving feeling the film generates throughout.
Well?I?m only a year behind. Just as Clint Eastwood is placing his latest directorial offering at the altar of the award-giving gods, I have just got round to watching Mystic River his 2003 film that swept the board in the acting categories at last years Oscars and quite rightly to. This is one of the best recent films I have seen. As Eastwood himself comments in the DVD special feature documentary, Mystic River is not about special effects or an action-packed plot ? it?s about people, human interaction and tremendous acting.
Based on Neil Lehane?s novel, Mystic River is the story of three childhood friends Jimmy Markum, Dave Boyle and Sean Devine living in a fairly bleak Boston neighbourhood. The film starts with the boys as children larking about in the street. Jimmy is the most daring and talks the other two boys into signing ...
Advantages: Brilliant performances from an excellent cast Disadvantages: Not the best title for the movie
He may not be my favourite actor, but as a director Clint Eastwood has made some pretty good films ? from as far back as ?High Plains Drifter? in the 70s, and most especially ?The Unforgiven?.
?Mystic River? is the best film he?s made since ?The Bridges of Madison County?, and that was 8 years ago, so perhaps it?s about time. Bridges was a gentle kind of movie, and this one has next to nothing in common with it, but it?s definitely a return to form. ?Mystic River? is a quite dark, even unforgiving, tale.
Clint Eastwood, good actor that he is, no longer appears in his own movies as a matter of course, and he isn?t in this one himself.
And there?s no need for him to be either ? the cast here is excellent ? Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon, and Tim Robbins ? you couldn?t really ask for a better cast.
The story of ?Mystic River? is taken ...

Dirty Linen (p.87) - "The musicians delve into soukous, highlife, zouk and soca and mash things up in a celebratory style....The feeling of joyful exuberance does come through loud and clear."
