Advantages: Lots of Great Songs and loads of information on Jimi. Disadvantages: The only live song is Star Spangled Banner, Which is a shame because Jimi's Superb live.

This is a genuinely superb album and has the very best that JimiHendrix has ever done. This is the Album I'd advise anyone with no JimiHendrix stuff at the moment. It's around the prise of most CD’s (£12-£16). The Inlay has a brilliant description of each song, when it was recorded, and what the inspiration for the song was. As well as lots...

Advantages: Musical genius, Guitar playing legend Disadvantages: none whatsoever, no weak links
...When I was younger JimiHendrix often came into conversation in our house. You see, my Dad idolised him and so did his Brother, they played his records, much to my annoyance, at very high volumes. Me and my Sister much preferred the likes of Michael Jackson (pre-fiddling allegations) and Madonna. Jimi was a legend we were told on many occasions although I couldn't see it myself. Well looking back, it was very definately too early for me to be able to appreciate what my Dad was telling me because a couple of years ago I bought 'The Ultimate Experience' by JimiHendrix and it's been playing on my CD player ever since. ...When people talk about great guitarists the name of JimiHendrix will be prominent. It is frightening to think of what he could have achieved if he had not tragically died in 1970. This album represents a cross-section of his career and is excellent for newcomers to the Hendrix phenomenon.
The CD contains 20 songs, all recorded between 1966 and 1969. There are very few artists who could produce this quality of material in such a short period of time from only four albums. The amazing thing is that it all sounds as vibrant today as it would have in the sixties. There is no doubt that Hendrix was a man ahead of his time, his music was always at the cutting edge. There is a freshness about these songs more than quarter of a century after they were written.
If you have ever heard Hendrix on radio then rest assured, the classics are all...
