before I begin my abuse of this CD I want to make clear that I AM a wrestling fan so therefore am not simply dismissing it. Previous WWE entrance theme CD's, of which I have all bought, have been absolutely fantastic with high qualitys of music produced to a slick, effective standard. For me the greatest WWE CD was the WWE Anthology effort which was released in 2001 and covered the entire history of WWE entrance themes on a 3-CD set. This effort however, is a complete change from all previous efforts. 'Originals' is the WWE superstars themselves performing songs that were especially written for them, and to be quite honest, they do an awful job of it.
I hope that wrestling fans don't believe that I have something against the sport, because as I said earlier, I am a fan who is giving an honest opinion on an appaling record. The only effort that is even listenable is 'Basic Thuganomics' by John Cena, and that is only down to the fact that he is a proper rapper with a record deal behind him. The other songs are just song after song of awful attempts at love songs etc, with untrained voices murdering the lyrics.

If you are a die-hard WWE fan (as I formerly was) then you will probably get this no matter what I say, but you honestly do need your ears tested if you rate this highly. The signing is appaling and murderous, the lyrics sound as if a 10yr old wrote them, and the production is pretty awful too. I used to have faith in the WWE for producing great CD's, but this idea has just become lost on me and my estimation about what might come next is very low.
Obiously to try and cure the pain after you've listened to it, the producers have included a DVD, which consists of half an hour of again, pretty dire attempts at humour. It goes behind the scenes and into the studio to see how the superstars made their tracks and in all honesty, its no great insight at all.
My recommendation to you if you are looking for a WWE CD that is actually any good, then get WWE Anthology, a 3 CD, 86 track effort of real quality, compressing the entire history of entrance themes into a fantastic set for even the most casual fan.
BUT DONT GET THIS !

As a collection what you've written is fairly true, but you haven't written anything about the songs themselves, because there are a couple of good tracks besides John Cena's.

I WAS considering getting this album but I don't know if I shall bother...I don't even like Cena's rapping so there might not be any point. Great review!
