Advantages: 27 tracks, £9.99 excellent! Disadvantages: I've got to buy the rest now!
I've never realised what all this hype about the Beatles was about. Maybe it's something to do with being born in 1975, I've grown up with different music and The Beatles were some mythical band that were the greatest at everything they did. Having said that, I do know many of their songs (and was quite impressed) I just wasn't jumping on the bandwaggon.
But whilst pottering round Sainsbury's I saw that they are selling single CD's at £9.99, what a bargain eh! So I thought I'd give this album a go.
As you probably already know there are 27 number one hits on the album. Now, not all of these are UK hits, but they were all No.1 in either the US or the UK, which is heartening as some greatest hits albums have tracks I'm sure were never in the charts here, maybe in Mongolia or somewhere, but never a UK hit.
Anyway, I digress. I ...
that has so much potential Grisham has give our main ?hero? no real reason for acting in the way that he does, it?s hard to say more than that without giving away too much plot, but suffice it to say, 99% of the population would have done the exact opposite of what Kyle does (in my opinion). The only person who came across as even remotely sympathetic was Kyle?s father, but even then there wasn?t a great deal of depth to him.
My major problem with The Associate is that it follows the line of so many of Grisham?s books and he does seem to be collecting bit and pieces of other novels and adding them to this one, and at least for the majority of the book Grisham writes with his usual style. The ending however is quite apart from his usual writing, I don?t want to give anything away, except to say it was a huge disappointment for me ...
Advantages: Live music is usually better than on the cd Disadvantages: Awful support bands
Top 10 Bands I've Seen In Concert
Be warned, this is a long review, so make sure you're comfortable! :-P
For as long as I can remember I've been surrounded by music. My dad has a rather large cd collection with a wide variety of music from his love of 70s progressive rock (Yes, Genesis, Camel, King Crimson etc) to newer rock and pop artists (Mew, Robbie Williams, Ash, Stereophonics, White Stripes to name a few). My mum has strange taste too which again includes some 70s prog rock along with Scottish Folk Rock (Runrig, Wolfstone, Capercaillie, Dougie Maclean) and some newer stuff such as Dido, David Gray and U2.
As soon as I was old enough to be put into bouncy chair that attached to the door frame, I've been bouncing along to Runrig and Pat Benetar. At the age of 3 I could work my dad's cd player and refused to go to bed ...
