Advantages: heartwork is a great song; other good songs Disadvantages: bit samey after a while, no real standouts
This album is the most successful release by Carcass, even if for their hardcore fans it wasn?t the favourite. This is carcass? 4th studio album, released in 1993, taking a huge step away musically from their previous albums. Heartwork was the start of the end for Carcass, which is a shame as they were one of the most successful British bands underground in the early 90?s. This album is mainly made up of songs from the melodic metal genre, with hints of other genres too, and is much more accessible than previous efforts, hence why it was their most successful. I chose to review this album as I personally think it is their best one.
For fans of fast music, I would warn you not to expect any really fast solos here or really fast solos, there are fast bits but mostly this stays to a groove pace.

Advantages: Orange, fresh fragrance. Price. It's popular with the whole family. Disadvantages: A Tesco 'Only ' product.
I had become keen on the idea of having a handwash in the kitchen, as being the room where food is prepared; obviously keeping my hands clean is a top priority. In the past I?ve used a bar of soap on a saucer, but quite often this has turned into a magnet for muck and germs, which defeated the whole object really. So having a convenient and hygienic method for keeping my hands clean, made a lot of sense to me.
A little over two weeks ago, I came across Tesco?s ?WakeUp? orange handwash, which initially caught my eye, due to its bright orange colour, and attractive packaging. Priced at £1.09 for 300ml, which I didn?t think seemed too bad; I decided there and then to give it a go. I?ve always been fond of citrus smells, as I think they convey an added freshness, and always remind me of summer.
This ?WakeUp? handwash is contained ...
Advantages: The blinding track "Carnal Forge", the legibility of the songs and lyrics for newer listeners. Disadvantages: Hard to find any. Stunning release.
Carcass kind of turned a corner with this album. (More or less) gone is the sick, medical dictionary language in the lyrics, as they mature, still with sick connotations, and phrases probably taken from the Collins Pocket book of Medicine, but this time worded more philosophical. The music has a different edge to it. The booming chugs and full on dark death metal evident on the masterpiece "Necroticism Descanting the insalubrious" has been replaced by razor-sharp sounding, metallic armageddon that splits the brain in half.
"Carnal forge", the second track on here, is a ride that you will never forget. Four minutes of pure insane 10-car pile ups and a mass brawling of guitars. Classics like "Heartwork" and "Buried Dreams" also appear, and some of the later songs have a dark melodica to them, that probably only Carcass could have emitted ...

Album Reviews
Record Collector (magazine) (p.79) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Carcass are the extreme metal fan's Pink Floyd, a band whose raw, gripping beginnings remain as influential as the polished, state-of-the-art sounds which they made at the end of their career."
