I remember when i was brought my first tape recorder when i was a kid. With it my Mum gave me a couple of cassetts that she never listened to. One was a Bobby Vee's greatest hits and the other was walk right with the Everlys. I use to listen to them over & over again as i did'nt have any others. I soon got to know all the words and despite the family suffering i use to sing along.
When i was older, although i liked a few modern day tunes aswell, i became an avid fan of the Everlys. I brought quite a few of their albums and began to learn a bit about them.
The Everly brothers would be more remembered by most people for their contribution to the 50s and 60s rock 'n' roll revelution, touring around the country with the American top artists of the time such as Sam Cooke, Buddy Holly & the big Bopper.
But with a deeper look in to the music that they sang i discovered that they were more country singers, singing songs with a story and a meaning.
Songs like these could be heard on quite a lot of their albums. One more notable than others would have Been "Songs our Daddy taught us" which was more of a folk/country feel and includes such songs as "take a message to Mary" and "Lighting Express" & another The Everly Brothers Sing Great Country Hits on which they covered traditional folk and country tunes.
The Everlys had a style of there own and their rock 'n' roll music always had that country feel.

Tunes from this album were a perfect example of the music that they were more renowned for. Unless you were a big follower of the Everlys these were the songs that you would remember them for. Such hits as "Cathy's Clown, Bird dog, Ebony Eyes & Dream" appeared on this album along with many more great tunes.
This album was my first introduction to the Everly Brothers and i have never looked back. I have yet to find an artist(s) that i like better.

In 1973 they parted and both persued solo careers.Before their split they relesed an album called " Take of the seventies" which included great covers such as "Lay Lady Lay" (Bob Dylan) & "The Air That I Breath" (The Hollies)
In 1983 they got back together again for the first time in 10 years when they held their reunion concert.
They released a new single "On The Wings Of A Nightingale" whith which they restarted their Duet career.
Over the years i have been lucky to hear all angle of the Everlys music and if your a fan you will all ready appreciate their entire collection and if not you will only know the recordings that you would hear on the "Walk right back" album.
I would highly recomend that you try and sample the other stuff as well if you have'nt had the oppertunity. Their Records are meaningful and, as most country songs do, tell a story that you can feel for whether it be a god or a sad feeling.
And just to think they still tour till this day.
