This was a really great movie and one you should definitely see. It is about the life of Johnny Cash, the famed American country singer. Johnny Cash is played by Joaquin Phoenix and June Carter (his eventual wife) is played by Reece Witherspoon. I did not know anything about Johnny Cash before I saw this and even if you aren't a fan of his music that will not put you off the film. It chronicals his early life as a child (briefly) before he became famous and then his well publicised battles with drugs. The DVD also contains some special features such as audio commentary, 10 deleted scenes and the theatrical trailer. It is rated 12, only suitable for people over that age as it contains use of strong language and drug use. It is produced by 20th Century Fox and runs for approximately 130 minutes. Johnny Cash - Walk the Line

Advantages: Heartwarming, compelling, fantastic soundtrack
Disadvantages: If you hate country music then it's not for you!

I always loved listening to Johnny Cash when I was growing up. I loved his music from an early age when my Stepdad would have his cd's playing in his study and I would listen through the door! So when I heard they were making a film about him I was thrilled. As much as I loved his music I hadn't taken the time to read about his life etc as I has with others singers I liked. I thought this would be a great insight into his life. For those of you who don't know who he is, Johnny Cash was primarily categorized as a country singer but his music was much more powerful than that. Walk The Line With The Orignal Highwayman

Advantages: Most Of Cash's well known songs are here
Disadvantages: Not enough songs!

I finished writing a review about another Johnny Cash CD I recently bought & I thought I should move on to the CD which will probably appeal more widely than the Duets CD. I started this review back in September and now it has finally come to it's conclusion! Johnny Cash, the great man in black, enjoying a revival thanks to the film 'Walk The Line' and recent releases of new material. I have been a Cash fan for longer than I care to remember so I am glad to see the man becoming popular again and appealing to such a wide audience, not just country music fans. Of course, the late, great Johnny Cash is no longer with us, having passed away in 2003, only months after the death of his beloved wife and musical partner, June Carter-Cash, but he seems to be just as popular today as he was in his Sun records hey day in the 60's.
