"Thursday's" third album "War all the time" is one of their best albums yet, considering the amazing lyrics, instrumental parts and just overall sound. It was released in 2003 and has to be one of the greatest albums released in that year. If you're looking for something completely different from the normal American post-hardcore band, than you've found it with this incredible album.

Normally you can name your favourite songs from an album straight away and decide if you like the song at first listen. But not with this album. Every song is different and has a new undiscovered depth that you find the more you listen to it.

For the workforce, drowning:

This is one of my favourite songs on the album. Although there is some screaming, you can understand every word Geoff Rickly (lead singer) is singing. The guitar rift, combined with the drum beat is simply inspirational to anyone who writes music.

Between rupture and rapture:

At first I thought this song had a little too much screaming for my taste. But once I had listened to it a few time, I realised that that is what makes the song so incredible. With a fast drum beat and guitar rift this song is hard to not become addicted to.

Division St.

It becomes almost impossible to turn this song of half way through, when Geoff Rickly screaming sounds through my speakers. The song is broken up with a random speaking part that is incredibly effective.

Signals over the air

This song has the most amazing lyrics, which is true for most "Thursday" songs, such as "when you say my name, I wanna split it from your lips and hide like whispers in the rain". The guitar rift is slower than in most of the songs on the album, as is the drum beat.

Marches and Maneuvers

Slightly more screaming in this song, but it just seems to fit, as it is mainly in the background. This helps to create a powerful sound and has lyrics to match this.

Asleep in the chapel

This song takes on a softer sound at first, until about three quarters of its way through the song. Like Division St. there is an extremely effective speaking part towards the end.

This song brought to you by…

An unexpected change from the normal creative lyrics and complicated instrumental part. This song has a certain simplicity to it that makes it simply beautiful.

Steps ascending

I love everything about this song from the concept, to the lyrics and the guitar rifts that fit so well. The pace slows down towards the end and the guitar rift becomes quieter. It's at this moment that I realised just how incredible Geoff Rickly voice is and how no other lead singer would quite fit when singing "Thursday's" songs. He always has so much emotion and passion in his voice which makes the lyrics even more incredible than they would be if he wasn't singing them.

War all the time

The song title is the same as the title of the album. This song takes on something different to the others. It has a softer sound at first, but through out the song there is a build up of something incredibly emotional, it is really amazing to hear.

M. Shepard

The guitar rift of this song may seem slightly similar to some other "Thursday" songs, but the lyrics take it somewhere new.

Tomorrow I'll be you

If I had to choose a favourite song from this album, it would have to be this song. Even if you are not a fan of "screamer" music, you will be able to appreciate the pure beauty of the lyrics. The ending to this song is simply spectacular, and I can't hear it enough.

Armed with the most creative lyrics I have heard in a while and a instrumental part that is impossible not to become addicted to, "war all the time" is a positively lethal album and a complete must have for anyone.
