Warpaint (The Pye Anthology) - Brook Brothers (The)

Advantages: Both stereo and mono mixes on one disc
Disadvantages: can't think of any!

...waft of a song, with the obligatory sitars and bells behind Pye's cooing vocal. Dave contributes some luvly wah-wah-ing organ fills on the more up-tempo instrumental breaks. "Policeman", written and sung by Richard, is a witty, humerous tribute to the PC Plods of this world, intoned over a driving beat and plenty of organ pyrotechnics. This song has one of my favourite ever lyrics--"Come in, you can have a rissole , If you would just blow your whistle". Sheer poetry. "Love Song With Flute" does exactly what it says on the tin. Pye's brother Jimmy provides the airy-fairy flute that daintily dances all over this most pretty of Caravan tunes. In complete contrast, "Cecil Rons" is a madcap freak-out, opening with random, manic percussion effects before settling into a rigid, bobbing-up-and-down type rhythm over which Pye recounts a rather... ...The sounds of science is an anthology charting the progress of the Beasties from frat rock, to sublime hip hop. As such there will be a lot of variation on the album and this means you are unlikely to enjoy very song. However the way in which this album and the autobiography put this band into context is truly excellent. The noticeable evolution between “ Fight for your right “ and Sabotage is pleasing to watch from a retrospective angle This album really charts the maturing of a band who have reinvented themselves often and have become icons in their genre....
