Recorded at Evergreen Radford Studio, North Hollywood, California on March 7-9 & 12-15, 1990 and RCA Studio B, New York, New York on April 19 & 23 and May 1, 1990.With his earnest, romantic renditions of Tin Pan Alley standards and a host of Connick originals composed in that vein, WE ARE IN LOVE put Harry Connick, Jr. over the top as a popular artist. Connick's mentholated vocals are most often compared to Sinatra, but you can also hear the influence of Mel Torme, Chet Baker, Mose Allison and Bobby Dorough, among others. Ultimately though, Connick puts his own stylistic stamp on each selection, with his cool, behind-the-beat phrasing and easygoing swing.[Reviews]Q - 3 Stars - Good - ...charming, witty, erudite...Q (9/94, p.133) - 3 Stars - Good - ...a keenly sculpted high society fireworks display with generous swoon factor...n

Advantages: Disadvantages:
...This is a greatest hits album of sorts, so it’s no surprise that when this was in my CD player I didn’t skip a single track. If you remember the songs from the “When Harry Met Sally” soundtrack, you’ll know a few of the songs on this CD. Anyone who loves big band or jazz music can’t afford to be without “Forever For Now.” HarryConnick, Jr.’s vocals are on top form and you can almost feel the energy of the band when the music is playing. One of my favourite tracks, “Little Clown,” is a quiet piano solo performed sensitively by HarryConnick, Jr. It is one of the quieter moments in an album which is full of life....

Tinkle those ivories Review ofWhen Harry Met Sally (Original Soundtrack) - HarryConnickJr.by

Advantages: Some excellent piano version of standards. Great songs Disadvantages: Hardly any are heard in the film.
...This is more HarryConnicks breakthrough album than the soundtrack to When Harry Met Sally. Mainly because there's only about two or three numbers actually used in the film, the rest are Connicks clever piano based interpretations of old standards such as 'It Had to Be You' - of which he does two versions, one a rousing big band number and the second (used in the film) an excellent trio up tempo version. Other highlights include a superb piano only be-bop version of 'Winter Wonderland', an almost Thelonius slant on 'Stompin' at the Savoy' and excellent vocal versions of 'Our Love is Here to Stay' and 'Don't Get Around Much Anymore' He ain't Sinatra but hey ole' blue eyes couldn't play those ivories like this guy!...

Advantages: A Delight To The Eardrums Disadvantages: None
...HARRY’S BACK! And doing what he does best…………………….
HarryConnick Jnr returns to the easy listening musical fold with his new cd ‘Only You’.
It’s pleasing to see HarryConnick returning to what he does best, which is him and a piano and a stunning Sinatra-esque voice crooning through classic tunes in his inimitable charming way.
HarryConnick Jnr has often swayed from his big band, crooning style on some of his latter albums and it’s good to hear these fine simple arrangements tunefully stating a return to his roots.
If you enjoy the young pretenders such as Jamie Cullum and alike then you will not be disappointed with this rework of some fine classics done by an exceptional talent.
Sit back, relax and close your eyes……………………….baby.
