I was prompted to shake the dust off a neglected corner of my record collection by a review posted by Nar recently. "The True Legacy of a Legendary Musical Divorce?" is about the Album "Legacy, a Tributeto Fleetwood Mac's Rumours" - a CD of cover versions of the songs from the classic Mac album 'Rumours' released in 1977. Nar also said that he was '?forever on the look out for new versions and covers of songs by leading artists known and unknown.'. For completeness then, here is one for his collection and maybe one which may have escaped your attention the first time around.
The String Quartet Tribute's declared aim is to concentrate on one well known performer or group at a time and produce classical (instrumental) versions of the songs 'note for note'. Some albums are compendiums of the original's more well known titles; others, as ...
Advantages: Some good tracks Disadvantages: Some weak tracks
looks good though with a nice cover featuring Philip Glenister as Gene Hunt and Keeley Hawes as Alex.
Here is a brief resume of the tracks and my thoughts and feelings about them.
INTRO - This is Alex's bit from start of show and is spoken by Keeley Hawes. A good way to start this album.
ASHES TO ASHES by David Bowie - I didn't like it much before, but really like it now, as it reminds me of the series. I tend to sing along to the "I'm happy, hope you'rehappy too" bit, as I like that especially. Overall, it's a bit hippy, a bit weird and very of the time, but original.
FADE TO GREY by Visage - I remember this well from time and seeing Steve Strange in his silver paint on Top of the Pops. It is good to hear it again and has aged pretty well.
LOVE ACTION by The Human League - This song does sound a bit dated, very 80s, but I ...
Advantages: Nice thought, initially great --originals-- Disadvantages: Not the LP originals but cover versions, horrible voices and bad sound quality
Dear Ciao members and Linkin Park fans,
My first Ciao test report ever will be on >Atributeto Linkin Park<, a CD by variousartists which you will find listed below in the track listings.
[Please don't be too hard on my English, as my maternal language is German ^^°
...But let's get back to the report!]
As said in the title, the CD is tributedto the American Nu Metal band Linkin Park which inspired the CD (as all of the tracks are simply cover versions of their own hits, in fact), whereas the band itself was not engaged in the process of CD making (and I'm not even sure whether they are informed about its existence at all...).

Album Notes
Contains 3 untitled tracks and the hidden titled track "Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World" following "Daytime Dilemma (Dangers Of Love)." Compilation producers: Johnny Ramone, Rob Zombie. Includes a booklet with color photos and liner notes by Stephen King. Finally arriving two years after Joey Ramone's death, WE'RE A HAPPY FAMILY enlists some of rock's biggest names to participate in giving this Forest Hills outfit its due. Not surprisingly, out of this impressive roll call of artists, the California contingent of third-generation punks come the closest to tapping into the amphetamine tempo of the original songs. Green Day rips through "Outsider," Rancid spits out a killer version of "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker," and Offspring's Dexter Holland is practically a vocal doppelganger of Joey on "I Wanna Be Sedated." Other cuts by bigger names take a different creative path. Marilyn Manson pours ethereal, goth-soaked nuance into "The KKK Took My Baby Away," Bono tosses out a well-mannered vocal on "Beat On The Brat," and Tom Waits pulls out a T.Rex-meets-Leadbelly "Return of Jackie & Judie." Kiss uses horns and screaming guitar to make "Do You Remember Rock 'N' Roll Radio" an infectious stomper, the Red Hot Chili Peppers make "Havana Affair" resonate with melodic rhythm guitar, and Eddie Vedder and Zeke rage through "I Believe In Miracles." Excellent liner notes by Stephen King make WE'RE A HAPPY FAMILY a keeper. Gabba Gabba Hey!
